"Polignano has its origins in the mists of time.
Already Palaeolithic settlement at the time of the Stone Age, later it was flourishing Greek colony, a host of other cities of Magna Grecia.
Its ancient name (Polineanum) comes from Nea Polis, or "New City", which suggests that in the vicinity of the residential settlement existed already an old Polis, then abandoned by the inhabitants for unknown reasons.
During the rule of Rome, with the name of Turris Caesaris, it was a rest stop and passage of direct militias to Egnatia and, therefore, in Brindisi.
In the course of the Middle Ages post it was subject to several feudal lords who have left tangible marks of their passage, except the Marquis Palace, an imposing building built in the sixteenth century and restored in the late 800.
The polignanesi remember, however, the many injustices by the barons and warlords during the long years in which they were subjected to the feudal regime, except for the two small brackets in which the city was advanced outpost of the Venetian Republic, during the sixteenth century.
Polignano, considered the natural barrier of its rocks placed on the sea and its mighty walls, protection of the town situated at the side of the hill, was never taken by Saracen pirates who infested the southern coasts for centuries.

I celebrated my birthday weekend with 3 friends in this apartment. The flat was a great place to rest, close to all shops and facilities. It has one toilet, which for larger groups may be a problem - for us it was ok. Paolo's apartment was managed by his friend Nicola, I found both charming and easily approachable if we needed help or to get in touch. Thank you both.

Thanks Mohammed for the review still positive. Your advice will help me to improve my hospitality, however, the presence of a bathroom and not the Wi-Fi connection are clearly specified. Of course all the advice must be constructive to improve. You were my first guest, I hope to see you again. thank you
