Description

Breaker Bay is a quiet seaside locality away from the hustle and bustle of the cbd. We have resident little blue penguins that you may possibly view coming ashore in the evening. The Captain's lookout is our premium bedroom with panoramic seaviews.

A very quiet, private, warm, sunny and sheltered house with stunning uninterrupted views across Breaker Bay and the rugged south coast. Your bedroom is one of three upstairs bedrooms with a Super Kingsize bed. On the same level is the shared, main bathroom with a toilet, bath, and shower. The house is shared with your hosts, Raymond and Kelly (canine).

Downstairs (groundfloor) is where the kitchen, dining area, and living room are with external access to sheltered garden and courtyard which gets all day sun. There is an open fire in the living room with two large, luxurious sofas for you to relax and unwind on. A small dining table overlooks the Bay where its great to enjoy a coffee or full breakfast in the morning.

Because the house gets nearly all day sun it is always warm - in the evening during cooler months the heatpump (air conditioner) and open fire provide warmth in the downstairs living areas. During the winter months there is electric heating in the bedroom and an electric blanket for your comfort on the bed.

Entry to the house is flat, and right on the footpath, with virtually no steps and no climbs!

You have full shared access to the house on both levels and direct access to the private garden courtyard. Ultra fast wifi/internet connection with unlimited downloads.

Entry to the house and private courtyard are secure so rest assured you are always safe staying in Breaker Bay.

I work in the city during the week and am often out and about on the weekend. I'm happy to answer any questions you have and point you in the right direction for the best places to eat and explore around Wellington. I'm happy to take you diving or on a tour of the Wellington south coast to areas only accessible by 4wd (note there would be an additional charge for this). During the winter months I can also take you by 4wd to view the local seal colonies, or during the summer months for a day trip to the Wairarapa. If the evenings are calm I may suggest going out after dark to find little blue penguins.

On request I can provide guided tours of Wellington and explain some of the cultural history of Wellington and take you places that the tours do not go

I know most of the best cafes and restaurants in Wellington as well as many of the best sights and activities - just ask and you'll be given as many suggestions as you would like.

Breaker Bay is a friendly community of approximately 200 people in a Wellington. The Bay offers opportunities for coastal walks, diving and kayaking right outside the front door. It is a quiet and sheltered bay on Wellington's picturesque south coast that is very charming and considered the nicest beachside locality around

We have little blue penguins that nest all around Breaker Bay and if you go for a walk in the evening chances are you'll hear if not see them. The penguins are shy and do not like bright lights.

Breaker Bay is close to the airport (5min drive) but because we are sheltered behind a hill we get absolutely no airport noise. There is very little road traffic on the Breaker Bay road - you're more likely to see and hear cyclists than you are cars.

You have free parking for your car right outside the house all day, every day! There's a bus stop right outside the house. Monday to Friday the #30 express bus leaves every 20 minutes for the central city from 7.30am until 9.30am and returns from 4.30pm until 7.30pm. There is a more frequent bus service from Seatoun which is a short and scenic 15 minute walk away.

Its only a 5 minute drive from the airport and I can provide transfers to and from the airport for $5 each way if necessary but not before 7.30am in the morning until 8.30am, or after 6.30pm weekdays.

If you're coming from the airport without a car I recommend you join Uber as you'll save plenty in taxi charges. Uber is available all around Wellington.

My recommendation of taxi companies is Wellington combined, (phone number hidden). These are the cabs with the 'blue bubble' on top and they have sister companies in the other major cities across New Zealand.

I welcome enquiries from all people from anywhere in the world. Breaker Bay is about 10km from the central city and is the envy of anyone living in the city centre. People choose to live here to escape the noise and traffic congestion of the central city.

We have resident little blue penguins that make their home here right under the deck.

On 5 November 2015 we had Orcas playing right outside - we had a guest staying here whose birthday was that day and she had the opportunity to witness this event. It could happen for you too :)

If seahorses are your thing, then I can take you diving or snorkelling to view seahorses in as little as 5m of water. This is a very special site that is not well known about so please keep it secret too :-)

If you want to bring your children, or pets, please enquire first as some conditions may apply. Pets are not allowed inside without prior approval.

Règlement intérieur
L'heure d'entrée dans les lieux est 15:00 - 02:00 (jour suivant).

Be respectful and treat the house as if it were your own - and please remember its not a hotel. The house is smokefree but you may smoke outside. Please remove outside footwear when entering the house. Please, no consumption of food or drinks (water is okay) in the bedrooms - there's plenty of dining space downstairs. If you would like to bring your pet or children, please enquire first as special charges or conditions may apply.

I'm a professional guy who passionately enjoys the great outdoors and want to share my slice of paradise here in Breaker Bay, with you, as my guest. I am a keen spearfisher, scuba diving instructor, tramper (hiker), mountain biker, and experienced kayaker. I enjoy cooking, and if you want a real kiwi experience, i'll gladly dive for some paua and cook it fresh on the bbq right there on the beach - weather and sea conditions dependent.

I enjoy meeting new people, hearing about their experiences, understanding their culture, and sharing my knowledge and experiences of the 'best little capital in the world'. I also like to say Wellington is the diving capital of New Zealand as we some of the best diving opportunities and most accessible coastline in the country.

I have tramped, run, mountain biked, or kayaked most parts of New Zealand and taken many groups on adventures around the country. I look forward to the opportunity of sharing my experiences, and providing recommendations or suggestions of places for you to visit, and activities to try.
