Description

This is a new, beautifully crafted house on a sunny corner lot near historic downtown Concrete. Just a block from 5b's Bakery and Silo Park, the guest house is perfectly situated for rest and relaxation. The house features a fully furnished kitchen with all new appliances and is decorated with a combination of family antiques and fun thrift shop finds. Wireless internet, a smart TV, books and board games ensure there's something for everyone.

Beautifully crafted and furnished new home a short walk from historic downtown Concrete. Near the Baker and Skagit Rivers, Baker Lake, Cascade Trail and North Cascades National Park, it's a perfect base for rest, recreation, or business.

Main Street Guest House offers a bright, clean, private space to relax in; a fully furnished kitchen with new appliances; and all the amenities you will need for business or pleasure. The house has an open floor plan and is furnished with a simple yet elegant combination of family furniture and thoughtfully chosen vintage features.

Main Street Guest House is within walking distance to great local amenities. One block east is 5bs bakery & deli, where you can enjoy dedicated gluten-free meals and treats. Stroll another two blocks to catch the latest new release at the historic Concrete Theatre or play pool at The Hub tavern. Also downtown is Cascade Supply, perhaps the best hardware store ever. If you have forgotten something for your trip, there's a good chance you could find a replacement there! Or head the other direction down Main Street to Silo Park, where you can play frisbee or basketball, climb the monkey bars, shred some gnar at the skate park, or admire Concrete's impressive community garden. If you're in town on a Friday afternoon, you can even join the local "boffing" club of youth and adults who engage in mock battles with home-made pvc, foam, and duct tape swords. Good times for all--and that's all within a quarter mile of the Guest House! On the corner of SR20 and Superior, Cascade Burgers offers a full menu in their bright 50's-style diner. The little "village" of Grasmere is a half mile west of Concrete on SR20, and is accessible by the Cascade Trail. This is where you'll find Albert's Red Apple Market (a full-service grocery store with fresh meats, produce, beverages, picnic and camping supplies, fishing tackle and bait, fishing and hunting licenses), Annie's Pizza Station, Perk's Espresso and Deli, Sonny Bear's Korean food, and other goods and services from hair styling to stained glass art. For runners or cyclists, the Cascade Trail runs parallel to SR20 from Concrete to Sedro-Woolley, offering 20 miles of recreation and exercise. Birdsview Brewery is eight miles west of Concrete by road or trail and makes a great afternoon destination.

You will have the entire house, deck, and yard for relaxation, rest and enjoyment. Lorenzan Creek runs near our property and you will hear its soothing sound from the side deck and from the bedrooms when windows are open. Please respect the property and privacy of our neighbor across the creek by staying on our side of the treeline!

We will be available by text, phone or email; "town" friends live just down the street and will help out as needed. Rarely we'll be on site working on gardening or landscaping while you're there and we will respect your privacy. We are friendly folk though, and are happy to share our knowledge of the many local and regional amenities and recreational opportunities with you.

Main Street Guest House is located just two blocks from SR20 and the Cascade Trail, 28 miles east of I-5. For bicyclists, SR20 is part of the officially designated USBR 10 (US Bicycling Route), the east-west bicycling route across northern Washington. Also, the Cascade Trail parallels SR20 from Sedro-Woolley to Concrete, offering a 20-mile pastoral ride on packed gravel.

For public transit options, Skagit Transit bus route 717 runs from Mount Vernon to Concrete at least four times daily and also offers county connectors to the north and south.

For drivers, Hertz and Enterprise Rent-a-Car services are available 29 miles away in Mount Vernon, along I-5. In summer 2016 Concrete will be joining the EV Highway system with the installation of a Park-n-Ride and EV charging station!

For those traveling by private plane (seriously), the Town of Concrete's "Mears Field" is a public airfield with a 2600 feet long, 60' wide paved runway. With a beautiful Pilots Lounge on the field open to all pilots and guests, Mears Field is just a half mile from Main Street Guest House and downtown Concrete.

The guest house is charming. It has all the amenities that one needs for a short or long stay. It's very clean and the beds are comfortable. It has a large parking area and a deck off the living area that is lovely. It's in walking distance to a bakery (heavenly ginger cookies), post office, and hardware store (if you can't find it in there you really don't need it)! The hosts are gracious and we are happy for such wonderful accommodations.

This is a beautiful new construction house in the little town of Concrete, WA. The hosts were very responsive and made access super easy. The house was perfectly clean and provided everything needed for a short or extended stay. Within walking distance to a great latte and little theatre playing new movies. Great base for hiking in the Cascades or fishing on the Skagit. I look forward to returning.

Our 2 night stay was fantastic!! We traveled to Concrete Wa to run the Baker Lake 50k ultra marathon Oct 1st. It was important to us that we stayed someplace that we knew we would get a good night sleep before the event. The house is new (or newly remodeled) very comfortable, we especially enjoyed the good coffee beans, grinder and filters for fresh morning java. The washer/dryer came in handy and the water heater provided plenty of heat:). WiFi and Netflix on the smart TV was good entertainment too. Our hosts were easily accessible and prompt in all communications. I would definitely stay again and would highly recommend it to others. Check-out Annie's Pizza for some good eats, and the nearby concrete silo park for a bit of town history.

This house was the perfect place for our trip to the north cascades. It was very spacious and everything is brand new. We stayed for a week, spending most days hiking in the mountains. In the evening we were able to unwind by the fireplace and enjoy simple dinners we cooked for ourselves. Overall it was a lovely place and the check in/check out process could not have been easier. We would definitely return here if visiting the north cascades in the future!

Great house, felt like a home away from home. Well designed space. Very clean and nicely decorated. Easy walk to the historic downtown of Concrete. Very close to an excellent bakery/cafe for pre-outdoor activity breakfasts. Enjoyed our stay and would stay again on our next trip to the area.

We are the proud parents of two amazing kids (one grown and one still at home) and members of a wonderful community. Our day jobs are in community health work and teaching; after hours we stay busy growing and raising food, maintaining our farm/homestead, and enjoying our beautiful Pacific Northwest homeland. We like fresh organic food, clean water, our annual two-week back-country hikes, community events, and good books. We have traveled around a bit (Greece, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, throughout the US) and now prefer to stay closer to home, rambling around Puget Sound in our camper van. As guests we are clean, low maintenance, and happy with a comfortable bed and quiet atmosphere. As hosts we are hands-off yet available when needed. We're really excited to share the Main Street Guest House, our newly-built family vacation home, with fellow like-minded people.
