STONE TREE TULUM is the first Vacation Rental in Tulum and is located in the original Maya neighborhood. Be local or tourist as you like in this culturally rich and friendly place. The high stone walls surrounding the property create a very safe and private garden. The pool has a fountain and built in seating. The location is central yet secluded. It is one block from where the jungle begins, separating the town from the beaches. If you rent a car, it is a five to seven minute drive to the Beaches and the Tulum Ruins. On street parking is close to the entrance door to the property. Bank ATM restaurants, bars, cultural center, town plaza and markets are a short walk from the house. It is three blocks from the main bus terminal, bike rentals and Taxi's. Ten blocks from the house is a lovely bike path leading to the Tulum beaches. It is a twenty-minute bike ride to reach them.

STONE TREE has two houses on the property; a MAIN HOUSE and a COTTAGE. The houses may be rented separately or the entire property for larger groups. If both houses are rented, a maximum of 14 people can be accommodated. (Refer to the other STONE TREE TULUM LISTINGS on AIRBNB ).

The houses are stone-built. The windows, doors and most furnishings are hand-crafted by local Maya craftsmen. All windows and doors on both houses are screened so mosquito nets are not needed. The thick stone walls, many large windows, and high ceilings with fans in every room provide excellent ventilation. All bedrooms and each cottage studio have air conditioning. It is rarely needed or used.

The MAIN HOUSE Sleeps 8. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a living/dining room. On the 2nd floor are two large terraces with hammocks and lounge chairs.

Taxes. Wifi, Cable TV, Cleaning after 3rd night, 5 Gal. Jug of purified water that can be refilled across the street in a small store that also sells beer, alcohol, chips and ice. All cotton sheets and towels, beach towels and umbrellas. The three kitchens have blenders, coffee makers, and are fully equipped with all that is necessary to prepare your own meals.
Tips: 10 pages of my tips based on 25 years in the area

STONE TREE has been a site for weddings, family reunions, honeymoons and single travelers. It has always been a great pleasure of me when I am in Tulum to meet the guests. They come from all walks of life and ages and from all over the world; backpackers, doctors, farmers, filmmakers, divers, anthropologists, teachers, cooks. It has been a great pleasure for me when I am there to meet such interesting and wonderful folks.

The MAIN HOUSE is private from the Cottage. You can enjoy your privacy or mingle w/other guests as you wish. The pool and front patio area are shared with other guests along with an outdoor shower for de-sanding after beach excursions. The pool remains a cool temperature all year. Great "chill" spot to dip into after excursions and before turning in at night or float face up and watch the hummingbirds.
The roof top terrace is a large flat area and is a wonderful place to star gaze, do yoga or sunbathe or hang your clothes to dry. There is always a wonderful Caribbean breeze.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I am prompt in answering emails and phone calls if guests have any particular questions before or during their stay. My Manager Soco will be there for you if and when you need her assistance.

Donna's place is located in the town not really walkable to the beach in the heat but an easy walk to shopping and restaurants. Public transportation is easy quick and cheap. We did not have or need a car. There is a real feeling of staying local. The air conditioning at night was well worth the cost. Donna's staff is incredibly competent, friendly and helpful. Donna's "tips" were very useful. Good stay.

Donnas house was absolutely beautiful and felt like a place to call home during our stay in Tulum. Soco cooked us such a wonderful meal and was very sweet and helpful during our stay. I would recommend this place a thousand times over!

Dear Donna, Back to France, time to get over the jet lag... It was a pleasure to be in Tulum and to meet Soco... She is such a wonderful person! We have appreciated to spend time in your house which was very confortable for our family of five. The only "negative" point I will enlight is that you should take off "swimming pool" for your site as it is not a swimming pool but a pond where children can refresh if they feel it! Anyway, everything was fine for us and we will keep a wonderful image of Mexico! Kind regards, Catherine

My friends and I have an amazing stay at Donna's home in Tulum. Its far more cozy and comfortable then even the photos suggest. Donna is so friendly and quick to respond answering all of our questions in advance. Her tips on Tulum and what to do and where to go were vast and incredible! She has so many suggestions I recommend coming with a black itinerary until you read what she has to say! We had no problems walking from the house to the main street to grab a cab anytime we needed. Soco had the house spotless and ready for our stay. We had her grab some groceries and also one night she cooked an amazing dinner for us! Not only do I recommend Donna's Stone Tree Main House but I hope to come back and stay again!

I discovered Tulum years ago by accident. It has been some 27 years since I settled in Tulum and began building. When I arrived, it was a Maya village of 500 people and my property was the last one in the village, I was surrounded on 3 sides by jungle. No paved roads, etc. There were no building materials except trees jungle vines and stones so we built my first houses with these with the exception of plumbing & Electric supplies. I had to go to Carillo Puerto (100 km south) for those and brought a toilet on an airplane! Well, these houses lasted 7 years and then Hurricane Roxanna came and blew them down and only the floors remained and the bathroom with walls of stone in the Main House. That original room remains. We rebuilt the houses of stone and the neighbors kidded me and said I was doing like the 3 little pigs did! I had thatch roofs above the stone walls for some years before putting on cement roofs. I do believe the big bad wolf of any future hurricane landing will not get me now!
