This airy, adaptable family room (1 of 3 separate rooms in our house) is available in a private residence. It caters for parents travelling with young children (NOT three adults). To book for a child, please contact me directly so that I can unlock that option for you.
Our house is a 15mins drive to the Brisbane airport and Entertainment Centre. The Brighton area is at the entry to the Sunshine Coast, and the area is popular for kite surfing, bush walking, the RAMSAR wetlands & cycling.
It is a great spot to stay when you work in the city but want to feel that you are miles away from there, when you're not working.
Some areas of interest in the city are (interesting spots in the neighbourhood are listed further below):
** Our CBD is about a 35 minute bus trip - here you will find lots of international fashion brands, smaller boutiques of Australian labels as well as David Jones and Myers, Australia's two premier department stores that also carry international brands and the best of our Australian fashion designers. Also many great restaurants/bars some overlooking the river. Here you will find Jupiters Casino on the opposite side of the river from Southbank.
** A short walk from the CBD over the river is Southbank where our art galleries, museums and main performing arts centres are situated. There is a range of great restaurants here all with lovely ambience, right on the river. Also here is a huge swimming pool with a sparkling white sandy beach with the Brisbane River on one side overlooked by bars and restaurants on the other side.
** A further 10 minute walk from Southbank is trendy West End (our Greek community) - restaurants and more shops here.
** Buy a "Go-card" for a bus or train AND you can use the "city cats" (catamarans that are part of the public transport system in Brisbane) to get somewhere or just for a very cheap river cruise! There's also CityHopper, Brisbane City Council's free ferry service. These CityHopper ferries run every 30 minutes between 6am and midnight, seven days a week, and service the more 'tourist' stops such as the Maritime Museum, South Bank etc.

The bedrooms are located upstairs. We live on the property so we are on site most of the time. We are happy to offer any assistance that you may need during your stay (and a cup of tea or a glass of wine) but equally happy to leave you in peace.
We lead busy lives raising our two children however we also are at home most evenings and on weekends. Our children are well behaved however from time to time - on the trampoline - you might hear merriment.
We have kids so happy to give you some pointers where the best free parks and other kid-related things are. We also know a very good babysitter...!
Because we are so close to the airport but without the noise, we can do a pick up or drop off service for an additional fee. Taxis usually cost between $35-$60 to and from the airport.
Need to store something whilst you continue on your journey, then collect it later? No problem, we have a shelf and airtight containers just for that, located in the backyard shed.
Only guests booked in to stay with us, are allowed to stay over.
We are flexible with check in/out times to fit in with International flights etc and are pleased to welcome guests at any time of the day or night WITH PRIOR NOTICE THEREOF. We do use a keysafe facility, when required.
Please clean up after yourself throughout the house.
We (try to) use water wisely - no long showers please.
No smoking is allowed anywhere on the premises - sorry.
Noise must be kept to a minimum after 9 p.m.
No parties, please. We have school aged children and both parents work.
Kids who have been booked in to stay, are welcome to use the swimming pool, trampoline, swing and tree house under their parents' active supervision.
Please close the front gate as you come and go, so that our little dog doesn't wander!
My husband Coenraad and I both grew up on farms and then became urban planners (!). I enjoy gardening, baking, helping out in the community and camping at places such as the Bunya Mountains and Bribie island. We all enjoy reading, painting, drawing and pottering around in the garden.
