WHERE
We live in Umhlanga on the Dolphin Coast, a prestigious, upmarket neighbourhood with well controlled access and security.

PROPERTY
The apartment is set in an indigenous garden, with cascading waterfalls and pools that flow into a big Koi pond. Our kids love the garden, with a 100 places to hide and build forts, and a tree house with a suspended walkway - definitely the coolest place in the village for kids!

ACCESS
The apartment has a completely separate entrance to the house, and as the entire property has a boundary fence, you will have your own remote to open the gate.

SETUP
It's an open plan, spacious apartment with sea views. Most mornings you'll be able to sit outside sipping a coffee and watch the dolphins frolicking in the waves. Whale season brings a whole new dimension to our ocean.

LAYOUT
The apartment is set on the same level as the pool deck, and in the morning you can enjoy the chorus of birds that come to feed in the garden. Looking through the lounge curtains you can watch the sun rising out of the sea.

BEDROOM
The bedroom has two single beds, a wardrobe with hanging space and drawers, and had a separate bathroom attached.

BATHROOM
The bathroom has a shower as well as a bath.

KITCHEN
The kitchen is equipped with a stove/oven combo, a microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle.
It's open plan with a dining table, and leads into the lounge area.

THINGS TO DO
We love walking to the village (5 minutes) in the evening, which has a number of pubs and restaurants and supermarkets , or to stroll along the beautiful Umhlanga beachfront promenade (3 minutes from the house) for a walk or a swim.
For a cafe with fresh croissants and pastries we recommend Vovotela or Ferruccis. For a larger menu we recommend Europa Pizza – all in the village. Our favourite Thai spot is Mo Noodles. (The hot and sour chicken and prawn soup is a world beater!)
Nearby banks include ABSA (branch), FNB, Standard and Nedbank (ATMs).

WHAT WE PROVIDE
We provide basic amenities including fresh towels, bathroom supplies and when you arrive will have some drinks and snacks in the fridge for you.. Feel free to snack on anything in the fridge and enjoy the refreshments.
If you need to do an laundry our housekeeper will assist you. A load of laundry will cost R250 (Wash and dry)

The pool has a pool net. Please let us know if you'd like to have it fitted for your stay.

The Koi ponds do not have a pool net.

NOTICE
Swimming pools can be extremely dangerous for unsupervised children and teenagers, as well as adults swimming alone. Swimming pool accidents can happen to anyone, regardless of swimming ability or age.

Chartwell Drive owners shall be completely held harmless against any and all liability, loss of life and/or property, damage or expense, including, without limitation, attorney's fees and cost of litigation, resulting from any and all swimming pool accidents or incidents occurring at your accommodation .

Please be informed that there is no safety fence/gate surrounding the swimming pool, therefore you should never leave a child or teenager unattended on the property . All children and teenagers, regardless of swimming ability, should be constantly supervised by an adult that can swim and is able to jump into the pool to assist a child in danger of drowning.

Nous avons passé une semaine très agréable à Umhlanga grâce à l'accueil de Sue et Mitch qui nous ont donné des conseils et nous avaient même faire quelques courses pour notre arrivée .

Very friendly, accommodating, relaxed but profesional host. Excellent, prompt and clear comunication between ourselves and the host. Clean and comfortable accommodation. Lovely little extras such as beach towels, rusks and bread and milk. Great doggie welcoming committee, friendly but very obedient dogs. Private but safe accommodation. Well within walking distance to the Umhlanga CBD. Overall, fantastic experience, can highly recommend this accomodation.

Very nice place, and walking distance from the beach, shops, bars and restaurants. Very chilled location with a sea view and a pool deck on a quiet street, yet not far from the action. Would definitely recommend it.

Had a wonderful stay at Mitch and Sue's place. Check in and check out were super easy. The place is super nice and as described. While I didn't swim in the pool, it is right out the door and looks quite nice. I will surely stay here again when. I visit the Durban area.

The perfect location for our quick business trip. Although we did not get a chance to use it, there is a lovely pool and a great view from the patio. Bread, milk and spreads were provided which is a nice touch. The beds are also very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay!

A good choice for a couple or two people happy to share a flatlet with two single beds. Very spacious open plan and a nice outside area. Security is good and it is quiet and yet situated a short drive or even a leisurely stroll to the shopping center and restaurants.

I value time over money, time to build memories, relationships and experiences.

As Seneca wrote "It is not that we have a short space of time, but that we waste much of it. Life is long enough, and it has been given in sufficiently generous measure to allow the accomplishment of the very greatest things if the whole of it is well invested."

I try and spend everyday in the pursuit of seeing the good in life, and in the people around me.

I married my childhood sweetheart, Sue and we have 2 beautiful kids, 4 dogs, 12 chickens, 2 guinea fowl, 4 Indian ring necks and a budgie.

Living in Umhlanga with a spectacular sea view and access to the ocean everyday is a blessing. I love kite surfing, spearfishing, surfing, cray fishing...just being in the sea makes me happy.

We've lived in the same house for 20 years, and renting out a part or all of it has always been part of our plan.
Airbnb has just made it easier to manage.

We love travelling and travellers...come and visit us.
