The inn was renovated in 2012. Each room includes a private bathroom. THIS LISTING is for our Madam Dora Room. Madam Dora was an infamous painted lady of Deadwood during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The most spacious and luxurious in the inn, this rich, burgundy room is located on the main floor. It features a king-size brass bed and a one-of-a-kind sofa. The large bath offers a two-person spa tub, twin sinks, and a shower with a rain-style showerhead. This room is perfect for a romantic getaway, sister weekend, or it’s-all-about-me evening. Accommodates up to 3 people with a rollaway bed.
Our menu varies with Darcy’s fancy and latest inspiration. Recent selections have included favorites such as peaches and cream French toast, cream scones, and wild rice quiche. All breakfasts are served family style in the Dining Room, and we’re glad to accommodate special diets with advance notice.
Sunrises at White Tail Ridge are unsurpassed—if you’re an early riser, join us on the deck for coffee and a stunning start to the day. Deer and wild turkeys are frequent visitors, and you might want to try basking in starlight and our delightfully pure Black Hills air with a glass of wine. Let us pack you a picnic lunch for a trek into the woods or to take along on your travels.
The fireplace in the Great Room and the Gathering Room that opens onto the deck, create inviting spaces for relaxing and socializing or for gathering a group for an event, such as a business or club meeting, or family reunion. A flatscreen television and DVD player are available. We would be delighted to host your next event.

When Darcy and John met, they soon realized that owning and running a bed & breakfast was for them. Today, they are passionate about providing the best experience possible for their guests, and treat them in the same gracious way they expect to be treated...with kindness, warmth, and respect. Darcy has lived a vegetarian lifestyle for most of her adulthood and understands guests’ unique dietary restrictions.
Darcy spent her career in government contracting, and, like her grandmother, always had a knack for hospitality, baking, and crafts. She is originally from the Black Hills. John grew up in Iowa and retired from law enforcement. He's very talented in his workshop. They are avid hikers, bikers and horse-people and spend every moment possible exploring the wonderland of the Black Hills.
(Be sure to ask Darcy about her connection to the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.)
