Description
Description

Find your perch high above it all at the Eagles Nest Loft Room: The suite has been set atop the main building like an annex with a view. A generous 65 square metres allows you plenty of space to unfold and breathe in the forest air freely.

Featuring an understated exterior architecture, the effect once you step inside is overwhelming. Designed like a loft with a ceiling to floor panorama front, the Edge House No. 6 commands a magnificent view of the lush valley fed by the Knysna River far below and the Outeniqua Mountains in the backdrop.

Slow down to savour the pristine surroundings, taste the fresh air, trail the course of a distant eagle and leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life far below.

Set off exploring on a long hike, a leisurely stroll or kick up some dust with the Edge House’s mountain bikes. Without room for doubt, the region is one of the most scenic in all of South Africa.
Later, reward yourself with a professional treatment at the Simola Spa or enjoy a wonderfully relaxing massage in the comfort of your suite. And on a different day, try to pick up the knack of fly-fishing or cruise down the Knysna River on a boat tour. Golfers will be delighted at the chance to play one of Africa’s most talked-about courses. The 18-hole championship golf course is ranked among South Africa’s top ten golfing venues.

Another word on our establishments intriguing design: Conceived by an US star designer, the elegant lodge’s countless fine details and clear lines were fused into a single work of art that has won a number of design awards.

At the core lies the ambition to transcend the laws of physics – to create a place apparently inhospitable: a sheer cliff face. Steel and concrete supports were drilled into the rock to secure the villa even in the unlikely event of a landslide.

Guests have access to the two main lounges, dining room, main pool terrace and the main pool.

Our management team does not live on site, but will be there to greet you in the morning, and say goodnight when you come home. We are also only a telephone call away.

Where leisure time activities are concerned, the options are next to endless. First and foremost, there is the nearby eighteen-hole championship Simola Golf Course which is ranked among the most beautiful and spectacular golf courses in all of South Africa. Apart from the challenges the course poses, the views of the surrounding mountains and the Knysna Lagoon are simply breath-taking!

Those that prefer two-wheeled transportation may also take the mountain bikes for a spin. In fact, the Knysna region is South Africa’s most popular location for mountain biking. The Estate offers a number of highly rewarding tracks.

However, you may also extent your range to the adjacent estates. Explore the Knysna Forest Mountains at your leisure, hike to the waterfalls and refresh yourself with a splash or take a kayak or boat out onto the Knysna Lagoon or River.

The lodge’s friendly team is always at your side with a word of advice or to help you make arrangements. The Knysna River is a prime spot for fly-fishing, a technique that requires considerable skill and practice. Guided fishing trips with the pros will introduce and you are rewarded not only by the idyllic landscape but, in the best of cases, with a fresh dinner.

It never hurts to be pampered a little: The nearby five-star Simola Hotel operates one of the best spas in South Africa. It is a pleasure for the Edge House team to arrange a supremely relaxing massage in the comfort of your suite. And then, of course, the Edge House?s location on the garden route makes it the ideal base camp for excursion up and down the lush coastline.

For example, visit the Tsitsikamma National Park famous for the dramatic Storms River mouth crossed by a hair-raising hanging bridge. Or explore the Robberg National Park in Plettenberg Bay and hike ancient forests with trees that date back more than a thousand years.

If you turn inland, an adventurous mountain pass will take you from Knysna along the famous panorama route 62 to South Africa's ostrich capital Oudtshoorn. Apart from the numerous birds bred for their leather, feathers and meat, the attractions include a vast dripstone cave system, the Cango Caves.

Those with an appetite for the tingling thrill of adrenaline have the one or other rush to look forward to on the Garden Route: Jump off Africa's highest bridge connected to life with a bungee rope. Try rafting, canyoning, abseiling, skydiving or paragliding - almost everything is possible.

Yacht cruises on the Knysna Lagoon is a wonderful opportunity to unwind in fine style and enjoy the magnificent scenery. No matter where your interests lie, the region offers you an activity to suit your liking. And we will be there every step of the way in planning your activities with you.

It is highly recommended to have your own vehicle. The Garden Route deserves its own time :-)
