À propos de ce logement
Quiet redwood getaway between Eureka and Arcata. Charming 500 sq. ft. barn loft with private deck, surrounded by tall trees, birds and woodland creatures. Short drive to towns, beaches, rivers and hiking. Small market and farm stands nearby.
Located near the end of a canyon road in the redwoods. Remodeled barn loft with custom, unique touches. Shared driveway and yard separate the loft from main house where we live and work.
The loft is ideal for single travelers or couples who do not smoke tobacco.
The full kitchen includes gas range, toaster, and microwave, and is stocked with eggs, tea, locally roasted coffee, local grass-fed butter, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and, when available, seasonal veggies from the organic garden and orchard.
The bedroom features both an attached solarium, and a private deck above a year-round creek. The Queen bed frame was made onsite with reclaimed ancient redwood.
The en suite bathroom includes soap, shampoo, clean towels, and features a secluded glass shower that brings the rain forest into the bathroom.
A small library includes regional guides to help plan day trips and identify birds, mushrooms and other wildlife.
An outdoor fireplace on the entry deck is perfect for cozy evenings under the stars.
Conveniently located a short drive to beaches, rivers, Headwaters Forest Preserve, Old Town Eureka, the Arcata Plaza, and Humboldt State University. Perfect for nature lovers, but just 5 minutes off highway 101, which winds along the edge of Humboldt Bay.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Be aware: The private road becomes one lane for the last few hundred feet and can sometimes require backing up or pulling over to accommodate oncoming vehicles.
Two senior dachshunds live in the main house. One is very friendly and one is a rescue who is a bit standoffish.
We love our little spot in the forest and think you will, too!

Guests have the loft to themselves, and are welcome in our small yard. Garden spaces with lettuce and other greens available for the picking by spring. Quiet drive along redwood-lined creek nice for walking, jogging and blackberry picking in late summer.
A steep, short hillside trail leading away from the loft offers nice views of the surrounding forest.

Jen likes to grow vegetables, cook and eat local foods, walk in the woods, go on road trips, and breathe the coastal fog. She catalogs books for an antiquarian book dealer, which requires her to read, weigh, sniff, and measure interesting tomes for readers and collectors around the world.
Howard has learned the value of wearing several hats in his 25 years in the rain forest. A builder and woodworker by trade, he integrates landscaping and gardening to round out the seasons. His favorite pastimes are hiking, and kayaking the bay, lagoons and all of our six rivers. If you want a guide to some of Humboldt's special places, he's a good guy to know.
