Family friendly holiday cottage in a large leafy garden, situated on the preferred Danish holiday riviera with an abundance of nature and culture opportunities, near excellent angling grounds and only an hour’s drive from Copenhagen.
Our traditional wooden cottage lies 1 km up the coast from the picturesque hamlet of Kikhavn in a large undisturbed sun-facing garden with fruit trees and only a 5 minutes stroll from a sandy beach.
The Norwegian-styled cottage has a large living room with a cosy fireplace, two terraces (one covered), fully equipped kitchen, BBQ as well as an outdoor Viking-styled sauna. It is within easy reach of Copenhagen (67 Km) as well as primary Danish cultural centres such as Hillerød, Helsingør and Roskilde.
The cottage is uniquely situated on the Halsnæs peninsula, which lies nestled between the sea (Kattegat), two fjord estuaries (Isefjord and Roskilde Fjord) and Denmark's largest lake (Arresø). Known as the sunniest location on Zealand the Halsnæs peninsula offers a range of exceptional nature and culture experiences including; pristine beaches excellent for swimming, hiking & bicycling nature trails, great angling opportunities, horseback riding, kite & windsurfing, kayaking, museums, galleries & historic sites and small ferries criss-crossing the fjords. The traditional fishing port of Hundested is today a local art and culinary centre for seafood and other produces. See our Airbnb Guidebook for more local activities and attractions.
Angling is popular in Denmark and our cottage is centrally located for exploring the best fishing grounds along the coast, -one site is only 500 meters away! The large covered terrace is ideal for hosing down and drying waders and other equipment, and there is a small workshop shed for maintaining and repairing fishing gear. Extra freezer capacity can be provided on request. Fishing licences (fisketegn) are compulsory but inexpensive and can be purchased online. The licencing scheme is financing fish breeding programmes, fishery research and restoration of habitats, -all contributing to a steady growth in fish stocks since the initiation in 1980ies. Check the local angling calendar for the best period for your preferred catch e.g. garfish and sea trout in spring, and sea trout again from September till November.
Our guests are also welcome to visit our organic wine & orchard only 1,5 km away along a forested cycle & footpath.
We hope you will enjoy your holiday at our cottage and in the surrounding countryside.

If you travel to our cottage from Copenhagen, then try to drive via the village Torup and stock up on fresh local vegetables, berries and other farm produces from small roadside stalls along the road Torupvejen.
This is an all-wooden cottage; walls, floors & ceiling. The wood gives it a lovely natural feel and smell but it is also flammable, so please take great care with open fire such as candles and the BBQ.
It is not a luxury cabin with spa & designer furniture, but a cosy and solid family beach-side getaway.
We have not included a cleaning charge as we expect our guests to clean the cottage before leaving (cleaning tools & materials are available in the cottage). However if you do not feel like spending time on this task, then please let us know in advance so that professional cleaning can be arranged at a fee.
We prioritise guests with a filled AirBnb profile and who stay at least 4 days.
Electricity consumption will be charged by meter at cost recovery level. Ask for current electricity prices when booking.
Otherwise, Enjoy the cottage, the garden and the local area, and please leave the house in the state it was received.
