Short Term Vacation Rental Certificate SVR-00083
*** Please read the addendum to the listing description below regarding the new City of Savannah Short Term Rental Ordinance and the required Sales Tax (7%) AND Hotel Occupancy Tax (6%). Updated rates now INCLUDE these taxes.
This space is designed for longer stays (minimum of 2 nights) of up to one full week or more. It is intended for low key travelers who might want avoid the tourist fray but still want the proximity of downtown.
This is the top floor of a 1914 carriage house. (It is the second story to my other listing "Carriage House - Cabin Apartment.") Another 'urban cabin,' this is a full apartment with a private bedroom and private bathroom as well as an open kitchen and living room. It has lots of light, and an outside deck looking onto the garden below.
IF YOU ARE A WRITER and are here for that purpose, I will give you a discounted weekly rate. Please inquire when you are looking to book.
The garden is expansive and very peaceful. It's situated behind a large colonial revival house (1914), and both sit on a 1/4 acre lot. There are 70 ft tall water oaks that shade the property. And open as it is, it feels very much like a private retreat.
Just a few blocks south of Forsyth Park, it is within very close walking distance of Cotton & Rye, Blowin' Smoke, Butterheads, Foxy Loxy, Elizabeth's, Local 1110, American Legion, Le Chai, Sentient Bean, Green Truck, PERC, and Brighter Day. It is also in close proximity to the Starland District (galleries, Starland Cafe, Back in the Day, and The Wormhole), and a few of SCAD's major buildings, including Arnold Hall. The main central library is 3 blocks away.
For Tybee visitors, it is a few blocks from Victory Drive, and from there it takes about 25 minutes to drive. I do have beach chairs for you to use.
This is as central as you can get south of the historic squares, less the congestion. There is a city bus line that stops on the corner, but otherwise it is 5 minutes by car from here to River Street, 15 minutes by bike (with a dedicated bike lane on opposite corner), and about half hour if you are walking.
The unit comes with the use of 2 older beach cruiser bikes, and of course you are welcome to bring your own. There will be one dedicated parking spot for you to use if you are driving.
There will be a small variety of breakfast items provided, usually including organic or locally sourced coffee, milk, juice, eggs, cereal, and some beverages.
There is a small television with cable (including HBO), and wifi is also provided for streaming movies or music on your own wireless device.
THANK YOU to my recent guests, Mike and Olivia from Chicago, for providing me with beautiful new listing photographs. The main photos in the series were taken by Mike Killion from Chicago.
*** Addendum: The City of Savannah has passed a new Short Term Rental Ordinance for any rentals less than 30 days, which goes into effect as of January 1, 2015. As part of the ordinance, I must collect sales tax of 7% and hotel occupancy tax of 6%, for a total of 13%. Because AirBnB does not have a separate line item to collect these, it's necessary for me to incorporate these into the nightly rate.
Please read the following agreement as per the City of Savannah Short Term Vacation Rental Ordinance. In booking you agree to and provide a de facto signature to the following:
As part of the application, property owners must submit a copy of an exemplar agreement which is executed between the property owner and occupant(s).

Either I or my property caretaker will be there to greet and show you in, and when at home (in the main house) we'll be on hand if you need any info during your stay either in person or through text. You can always call directly for urgent matters.
[I generally open the calendar up about 3-4 months in advance -- if you need to book later than that time frame please check back again.
In general, either myself or a friend will meet you directly with the keys and show you in. One of us will also be on hand (by phone or text if not directly in person) if you should need further info during your stay, or for any urgent matters.
You are free to come and go, just be sure to keep the noise to a minimum after 11pm to respect the neighbors. When possible please remove shoes at the door to lessen the noise for the apartment below. No smoking in the apartment, only outside on the deck or in the garden itself -- it's the best place to enjoy it anyway. (And please, no butts in the garden besides the one you sit on!)
And as much as I love kids, the property is not suitable for young children. I can try to refer to you to other places in the neighborhood that would be a better fit.
Si vous annulez jusqu'à 7 jours avant le voyage, vous recevez un remboursement à hauteur de 50 %. En cas d'annulation au cours des 7 jours précédant le voyage, la réservation est non remboursable.

Hello all -- Having lived and traveled all over the country and a good deal abroad, I can truly say Savannah is hands down one of the most beautiful towns anywhere ... I still keep calling it home. I can be a recluse even in a crowd, and this quality is what drew me to my house of 15 years -- it provides a wooded privacy in a centralized, urban setting. Once you get your keys and I get you oriented, I'm pretty hands off -- but always happy to answer any questions and give recommendations. You'll understand why this place is a secret hideaway in the middle of everything.
