Has the best summary of all of your city options for transportation.
Start with “ways to get around”
Here are some options I recommend.

Capital Bike Share – - 3 min walk on D street - closest station
Capital Bike share puts over 3000 bicycles at your fingertips. You can choose any of the over 350 stations across Washington, D.C., Arlington and Alexandria, VA and Montgomery County, MD and return it to any station near your destination. The first 30 minutes of each trip are free. Each additional 30 minutes incurs an additional fee.

Bus Line –
We have 2 bus lines located across the street and 1 bus line located one block up on “C” Street.

14th Street – directly across the street from the house with the small park – B2 Bus
D Street – diagonally across the street – D6 Bus [Sibley Hospital – Stadium Armory Line]
C Street – walk on 14th street to bus stop…the D6 will take you to Union Station where you can catch the DC Circulator [usually only $1] Please go on line for specific schedules.

The DC Circulator is an easy, economical way to get around the District and is constantly adapting to the needs of DC residents, employees and visitors. The DC Circulator is the only public transportation option around the National Mall. The National Mall route provides access to 27 monuments, memorials and museums

Car Transport
Uber or Lyft. , [Usually $5-10 less expensive than a taxi]
The local Taxi service is: DC Yellow Cab Company
Super Shuttle [transport to and from airport]
The closest Metro station is : Eastern Market [blue/orange/silver] It is the most convenient, with a busy, well populated shopping area on Pennsylvania Ave
Union Station is conveniently located 1.4 miles away and is approximately 5 minutes by car

The Backyard is open for enjoyment from May 1 through October 31. It is available for booking for functions of up to 30 people.

Breakfast Options
Please feel free to use and enjoy anything in Kitchen [eggs/orange juice/bread/spices, fresh fruit/vegetables, cooking equipment and tableware, etc]

If we have a guest checking out the morning of your arrival, our cleaning staff will be working to get the property ready by 4 pm for your arrival.

Complementary Coffee/Tea Service
There is the Coffee and Tea bar downstairs in the Kitchen 24/7. There is a hot water machine and filtered water located to the left of the main water faucet at the sink.

There is also a Nespresso Espresso machine as well as a machine to make hot milk with froth and directions are in the drawer. The Espresso pods are in the flat black box under the Espresso Machine.
Feel free to use any of the cups – there are take away cups and tops also available with more in the cabinet below . Just know that my heart is very fond of my Starbucks collection [smile].

Front Yard Fire Pit/Lounge
This is a popular spot of the house! It is a both a great way to see the local activity of the neighborhood and enjoy a quiet moment after a busy day.

Cushions are kept in the storage chest in the front yard and the larger seats that won’t fit are usually kept in the storage shed outside [during nightly use] against the wall in the kitchen or living room. Please make sure they are stowed away nightly after use
Duraflame logs and firewood is located in the backyard on the étagère.
Matches are in the drawer of the Coffee Bar
Fire Extinguisher – located by the piano
Throws/Blankets – usually kept folded in the chair by the living room television
Tree Lights – They are on an automatic timer from dusk to dawn… just enjoy

Guest Laundry
The washing machine and dryer is located in the Master bedroom next to the bathroom behind the curtain. There are detergent pods on top of the armoire and the bounce drying sheets are on top of the dryer. Usually the door to the master suite is open so feel free to use anytime. If that room is occupied, arrangement would simply have to be made for convenient access.

House Keeping/Extra Linens/Towels
The house is professionally cleaned every week, usually on Wednesday. I will leave you a note if your stay falls on a day of general cleaning. If you would like your room serviced on that day - just keep your room open and it will be cleaned as well as your sheets changed. If not, just lock your room.
Cleaning supplies are under the cabinet of the kitchen sink or in the storage room next to the refrigerator in the kitchen.
Extra Linens are in the glass covered étagère in the upstairs hallway if you need a change of sheets. All of the beds are queen size in the house so everything should fit.
Extra Towels are located in the shelves in the Master and Upstairs Guest bathrooms.
Extra Blankets – usually at the foot of the bed

There is usually a bag of ice in the freezer. If you require a large bag of ice, we usually go to the liquor store at the end of the block at 15th and D Street [to your left] – they are $2 each.

Internet Access
The provider for the house is Verizon Fios. The main box with username and login info in on the small black tower on the accent table under the main television in the living room.
Username: FIOS – LNYHUPassword: reno3249mile982ego [lower case]
Mail and Packages/Fed Ex/UPS

There is a local FedEx in a Kinko’s that picks up at 6 pm.
The address is: 715 “D” Street SE, [across from Eastern Market Metro]
There is a FedEx Store that closes at 8 pm.
The address is: 208 2nd Street SE
There is a local UPS store that closes at 7 pm
The address is: 611 Pennsylvania Ave SE

Thermostat – located downstairs in the living room in the alcove behind the dining area. It is on the wall next to the closet. I usually keep the house programmed to 70 degrees

1.Montmarte [my favorite]
2.Bayou Bakery [fresh Beignets all day – The BEST!]
3.8th Street SE restaurant row
4.H Street restaurant row
5.Pennsylvania Ave row [between 2nd and 11th – shops/local businesses]
6.Favorite Walking Route to the Capitol and Mall [see map]

There is a Temporary Parking Pass available for anyone that needs parking. Usually you need a Zone 6 sticker on most of the streets to avoid a ticket. There is free parking on the “Tenessee Ave” street side of the park across the street as well as free parking from Friday evening until Monday morning. There is a $250 fee if the Parking Pass is not returned. They only issue one per house a year and they are difficult to replace. It is also an inconvenience to all other future guests in need of the pass. Thank You!

Pets and Pet Policy
I love animals and they are welcome! I just ask that you clean up after your pet and be prepared to rectify any damage they may unintentionally cause.

There is a cat named PAPA in the backyard. He used to live inside until he decided to stop using his litter box…now he is a beloved outdoor cat. He may forget this at times and try to come in….please just escort him out again. He has a house and food outside…he knows better and he knows where it is! [smile]

ADT Alarm: This is usually used for when the house is empty and not in use.
Deadbolts on Bedroom doors: For when people are in residence, each room is equipped with a deadbolt and a key for security when you are away and privacy while you sleep.

This is a strictly enforced no smoking home.

My Dad loved his Louixs cigars and enjoyed finishing his evening visit with a Louixs and cognac in the backyard accompanied by great conversation. I thank you in advance for cleaning up after you finish your wonderful cigar and cordial.

Pamela's place is warm, cozy and really like a home. We were offered breakfast, a large bedroom with tube and two cute golden retrievers. It's been the best Airbnb experience that we had so far. We will definitely stay there again.

Pamela thank you so much for your hospitality. You made my first Airbnb experience one that I shall remember. You and your host take such care and pride in assuring the utmost comfort of each guest. The personalized card and the scones, chocolate, nuts and wine. The coffee and breakfast items and the kitchen amenities were just wonderful. My sister and I completely enjoyed ourselves. If you will host my sister and I again we would surely love to stay at your lovely home during our next visit to DC. Thank you again for allowing us to stay in your wonderful home. Blessings, Drea

A great spot, with an even greater host. Pam is warm, welcoming, and makes the house, including the fully equiped and stocked kitchen, totally available. This is a "best of the best" place to stay!

Pamela's place was cozy, comfortable, and clean. I would stay here anytime I'm in DC. It was easy to get to, with very clear instructions in the house for any questions I had. I only wish that I had been traveling for pleasure -- not business -- so that I could have taken better advantage of the fun parts of the house like the fire pit out front or the patio out back. Thanks Pamela!

I am a Mom with 3 beautiful children that have been launched from the nest. I am also the proud owner of a Golden Retriever and an outdoor cat. I travel for work and now that I am an empty nester, the only logical thing to do with this property is to share it with fellow travelers! I love my location because I can get to anything in the Virginia/DC/Maryland area in an equal amount of time!

My favorite thing to do in the city is my walk to the capitol from my home as the city is waking up. I grab my ipod and walk/jog through the canopy of tree lined streets while enjoying the beautiful architecture of the city and perfectly manicured parks.

I can either hop on a bike via [capital bikeshare located 2 blocks from the house] or walk to the metro to get to other parts of the city. I designed my home to be a welcoming retreat for myself and friends after a fun filled day in the city. I hope you will think so too!
