We cannot control the weather, and everyone needs to remember like the experienced campers know, that if you are renting a tent, you are making a appointment with whatever the weather provides in any area in the world.
On any date, the weather can change in any location, and if you are reserving a tent camp site, you have to factor in the weather.
Please check the weather for all of your visits in remote areas, that is camping 101.
Please BEFORE YOU BOOK - check the map of all of the listings in the area, all are on the same four way junction by the roads. Any listing that is not on these main roads, are down dirt roads, and there are no places to buy new tires in our region, the closest is 150 miles away. If you want a remote location you need to choose a different listing, because we are convenient to everything and road accessible and that is a plus in our area, not a minus. The remote listings require a drive down a dirt road and should be prepared for that.
No listing you see on the map is in a remote area, you are NOT alone in the remote wilderness. Please expect that we are next to the entrance to the tribal park, and all tent listings are on the same Monument Valley Road nearby and if you have a preference for the wilderness, you have to book inside the tribal park which is 26 miles down a unmaintained dirt road.
So, lets be clear - you would have to drive 26 miles in and out of the park on that dirt road to access the store, gas station and laundromat or restaurants.
26 miles is an additional time factor to plan, as it is about 45 minutes to drive down a 26 mile unpaved road.
I'm sorry we have to stress this point, but we have a lot of travelers who are not familiar with our area, and make comments that they expected the remote wilderness.
This is a Navajo community, in a remote region, but is not remote any of the listings that are at the four way junction, except those down the 26 mile unpaved road The map clearly shows there are only two roads in Monument Valley that YOU ARE BRINGING YOUR CAR IN AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE TRAFFIC. SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE VEHICLES LIKE YOU WOULD IN ANY TOWN OR CITY, CONSIDER TAKING A SHUTTLE BUS. Thank you.
You may borrow our tent heater if you bring the small 16oz propane canisters like the green Coleman cans.

A small solar charging station for camera or batteries. We have tent heaters that use the small propane canisters which if you buy four to six of them while you are in a major city on your way here they are very cost effective and can assure any temperature or for those with cold sensitivities.
Please take your trash with you as we have no trash service in our remote community. If you leave trash it will stay here forever.

You can totally ignore the hosts if you want to. But most people choose to hang out and have fun with us.
Our neighborhood is the Tribal Park, we have the view of the movie "The Searchers" which was filmed on our side of the block. We are mins from the grocery store, gas, and laundromat.
We are a hop skip and a jump to the entry kiosk for the Tribal Park. We are right in between, we are not in the Tribal Park but we are not all the way across the street, we have a great view for both sunset and sunrise. We have a lot of little nuances that the other listings don't.
We get the last of the sunset well after it has set in the Tribal Park. We get the first of the sun, in the morning, that's because the Tribal Park is in a bowl of rock formations and Mesas.
We are on the skirt of Mitchell Mesa. We don't have the glare of the hotel or the clinic, to marr the night sky. We are conveniently located next to the road to the tribal park and you do not have to travel down dirt roads or get lost finding a hard to reach location.
By Car: You can access our site with a regular vehicle. YOU DO NOT NEED A 4X4 for our site. However, you might anywhere else. Or if the weather is bad, the unpaved roads are vulnerable.
4x4 is not extra at many places that rent them but they are only required for the winters or heavy rain storms to reach photogenic locations.
Just be yourself, and soak up some beauty way, to take home with you!
1. Only throw paper waste in the cans. Take all other trash with you. Other trash attracts wild and nuisance animals.
If you need a garbage bag we can give you one.
2. Return the solar lights to the table so they may charge for the next guest.
3. Keep the clip on the toilet paper in the outhouse or the paper will fly out with the wind.
4. Do not play with the zippers. If they give you trouble leave it open.
5. Notify us if there is anything you need or if something is wrong with the outhouse or shower.
Folks, it’s time to make reservations for this year’s total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017!

Yá’át’ééh, this is Mark and Jenna and we are the first Airbnb listing here in Monument Valley with excellent reviews by Airbnb guests. Because we were the first to list we have the most experience in making airbnbers happy. We provide a connection to local Navajo neighborhoods and culture.
Jennafer and myself have cultivated the other Airbnb listings but ours is the most special as we are roadside accessible and there is no treacherous unpaved roads. We are closeby to all restaurants and grocery store.
