Another service if wanted is Baby-Sitting for a few hours at night. Please let me know if you are interested and i can share the details and cost for Carols baby-sitting with you. Carol is a lady in her 50+ who loves children and misses her own grand-children. So would love to give you a night off/ (for a few hrs) to go out and have dinner. She is also the lady who makes sure the unit is clean and ready for your arrival so you can definitely meet her and have a chat.

Theres plenty to do and see in the area. I'd like to think theres something for everyone, a relaxing and a great base for tropical Queensland attractions. A multitude of pamphlets can be found in the unit to help you plan out & decide on how you want to spend your time in Cairns. Fresh water or salt water, reef, beautiful countryside or rainforest. No need to decide almost all tours allow last minute bookings and after hrs calls.
Some of the activities on offer: White water rafting (wet reason), cable ski, kite surfing, fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving or checking out the Botanical gardens or the many waterfalls in the area. The list goes on. See the list of places that i have pointed out on air bnb guidebook.

More about the unit :
Its about a 10-15min drive from the airport (would not attempt to walk) t used the service yet!!

Its a ground floor unit and only has one step near the entrance. We have had a few groups of people stay in the unit who have said that the unit is definitely wheelchair friendly!!!

Large outdoor courtyard, dining area, with awesome BBQ!

Open plan living area with a Kitchen that has all the tools that any cook could need.

Lounge has very comfy sofa to relax & watch plenty of movies or TV shows on NETFLIX.

Please find the large communal rubbish/trash bin in the enclosed wooden fence near the entrance of the property.

Theres also a shared swimming pool in the complex, children must be supervised and the area be kept clean. No glass cups or bottles while in this area please.

Nearby :
The waterfront/esplanade is where you can easily find entertainment for children of all ages like Muddies play ground, beach volleyball, skate park, which are free to use.
The Reef Fleet Terminal is the place where you catch a boat to head out to the Great Barrier reef (aprox 30min walk)

Most tour companies offer a courtesy pickup & drop off; i.e pickup from near by hotel Bayleaf. The hotels and tourist shops can also book tours in for you and can offer further advice and pamphlets on thing to do in the area

Close places to eat/ find food :
Breakfast or lunch: - Bagus Cafe (Indonesian), Jamdrop caffe, Muddies cafe, Ridges esplanade.
Dinner : - Cock & Bull (pub), Bay leaf (Balinese), Ridges esplanade, Pizza hut, Fish & chips... just on Sheridan st. Plenty to choose from

Closest supermarket is the Friendly Grocer on Sheridan st, its open 24hrs, and for that privilege is twice the price of a regular supermarket (5-10min walk)
Theres also a Liquorland on the corner on Sheridan st open till 10 pm most nights.

Otherwise Cairns Central is a shopping centre with a Coles, Kmart, Target, Myer and many other shops (20-30min walk).

Theres a Woolworths thats about 10-20min walk straight down Grafton st.

Cheaper car rental nearby rather than large commercial rentals at the airport. Let me know if this is something you are interested in.

This is a great apartment (ground floor) with good amenities, close to the hub of Cairns, very comfortable and attractive ( what you see in the pictures is correct). Dave was very responsive and helpful to accomodate some special needs we had. Very thoughtful touches included fresh milk and access to a well stocked pantry and fridge which really made our stay even easier. There is a great sized courtyard with a BBQ which added to the living space. Beds are comfy, air con works a treat and access to extras like Netflix make it fun after a day of sight seeing. Dave also provides maps of Cairns and tourist attraction brochures. Thoroughly recommend relaxing and enjoying your stay here in this lovely home.

Very affordable apartment walking distance to anything in Cairns. We stayed for 7 nights (4 adults and 2 young kids). Although we hired a car for a day trip to Port Douglas, you do not need a car for anything as everything is within walking distance. The furthest walk we did was to the reef terminal which was about 25 minutes with a pram. Muddies (playground/water park) is fantastic for young kids and is only ~10 minutes away. The lagoon is only ~20 mins walk. We got Coles home delivery - ordered a few days before we left and got it delivered an hour after we arrived. Can't recommend this method enough!! Otherwise, you'll be paying for a taxi to help you carry everything home. The apartment itself was everything all the reviews are saying and the photos show. The backyard area is great for the kids. We also packed the scooter for our 4yo who loved scooting in the backyard and she scooted everywhere we walked. Room configuration is great for families or multiple couples. Air con in every room also helped. Dave was a fantastic host and there was no issue in anything we asked for - he provided us with a high chair, portacot and even lent us his blender from his home so we could make our standard breakfast smoothies!! The apartment was stocked with most of the staples like salt, pepper, oil, glad wrap, milk, toilet paper, etc. Would definitely recommend!

Dave's place was perfect for 6 people, has 3 comfortable bedrooms and all the appliances one could ask for. The apartment is situated on the bottom floor of a small quiet block with an undercover garage at your front door if required. The private outdoor deck at the rear of the apartment is great for sitting around in the cool of the evening or the heat of the day and enjoy a quiet drink or a feed from the good BBQ Dave has provided. The internet was good and the smart television helps to fill in the hours should you need it. The linen provided was more than adequate and Dave has even provided beach towels should they be required. There is a small swimming pool in the complex and the closest pub is a short block and a half away with the Esplanade is a couple of blocks away in the other direction. Parking in the street is full between 8am - 4pm because of the high school across the street but not a problem out of school hours. The school is so quiet one would not even know it was there so it is not a distraction. If you want a good comfortable stay in cairns I recommend you think seriously about Dave's place.

An excellent faultless stay at this convenient ground floor apartment. It was exactly as advertised and we couldn't have had a better host. We very much appreciated Dave's friendly attentive help, local recommendations, prompt communication/ interactions. It was spotless, well equipped and presented, comfortable inside and outdoors and very good location. No hesitation in highly recommending and rate this as a very successful airbnb experience.

A fantastic place in nice , quiet location. Suited my family of 5 adults perfectly. Great facilities, well equipped kitchen, barbecue, and use if the plunge pool. Just a 10 minute walk into Central Cairns for main shopping and bars. We loved the Lagoon facilities on the Esplanade too, chilling in the sun. We booked trips to the Barrier Reef with Silver Swift on their Silver Sonic tour out of Port Douglas and were picked up just 10 minutes from Dave's place for a mist brilliant day out ( 3 Reef locations, Scuba and snorkelling). If you go to Fitzroy Island, go early, we only booked the ferry and just missed getting to summit by about 100m ( a tough climb) as we ran out of time.... Dave's place is in a great neighbourhood we would love to return.

Easy going and chilled, always up for a chat. Work hard and play hard.
Love to fish and do anything else to do with the outdoors. Another love is to get on my bike either pushbike or motorised.
