At the end of 2008 we bought these 40 lovely acres in Spring Hill. The views are what initially attracted us to the property, but it also has the most amazing gully with Emu Creek running through it. The gully is extensively treed with Manna gums, Blackwoods, Peppermints, Messmate and Swamp gums and makes for some lovely walks. There is plenty of wildlife; kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and wombats call the gully home.
We’ve built our 7+ star straw bale home and are slowly developing the property. We have solar panels and a solar hotwater system and we collect and use our own water for the house and the garden. One day we hope to be "off the grid" and take care of our own energy needs as well.
Our house garden is a combination of natives and exotic plants, including an orchard, berry garden (with raspberries, blackberries and blueberries), peony patch and vegetable garden. We are a professional couple with “a day job”; the development of the garden is a slow work in progress, but one we very much relish.
Our guests have access to the produce of the garden including the daily supply of eggs from our 5 cheeky chooks. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!
