Built in 1876, Uig Lodge provides comfortable, homely bed and breakfast in the most breathtakingly beautiful spot in Scotland. We are not a hotel, but a home. Prices vary from £60-£150 per room per night b&b. We have spectacular views over the bay and mountains. Something for everyone! This listing is for a single room with large separate shared bathroom. There is a sink in the bedroom.
The lodge is in the most spectacular situation overlooking the enormous expanse of Uig Bay on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. Built in 1876 by Sir James Matheson as a 'place of repose'. The lodge was also a favourite haven of celebrated writer Arthur Ransome and is where he wrote 'Great Northern' (the last in the Swallows and Amazons series). The lodge is nowadays a family home and also rented out as a fishing lodge. We also enjoy welcoming bed and breakfast guests when we are not booked to fishing groups.

We are a working farm with sheep in fields immediately surrounding the lodge and lambs at certain a times in the year. Attached to the lodge is also a smokehouse where we run a business producing award-winning smoked salmon so guests will have the chance to learn about the history and art of smoking fish, taste some and purchase some should they wish. We also send via mail order. Please do get in touch for any further details.
Any special dietary requirement or requests please get in touch in advance!
We expect guests to treat the lodge as a home from home. We are not a hotel nor a conventional guesthouse or bed and breakfast. More a home from home.
