Our time in this home was wonderful. Victor set up our transportation to and from the airport which was a huge blessing! The trip from the airport was about 4 hours to Lava and then another 45 minutes to Kolakham. The roads are very bumpy but the scenery is beautiful. The view from the house, when the clouds are gone, is spectacular. When clear, you can see Mt. Kangchenjunga. Generally it was best seen at sunrise. Also the hike down to the waterfall is definitely worth it. It was a little over 7 miles round trip and about 2000 feet elevation change. The local people in Kolakham are very helpful. We asked them for help and they were very welcoming. The night before we were planning to leave there was a political strike so our drivers would not take us out that day for safety. We left the next day with no problems. Victor was very understanding and worked through communicating the changes with the people. He did not charge us for the extra day. My wife and I were allergic to something in the house unfortunately. The home is made from concrete and natural wood. Maybe it was the wood or bedding we were allergic to, not sure but we do have seasonal allergies. Also the home is located in the jungle so be ready for bugs. We brought a natural bug diffuser plug in and that helped, but after the rain at night the bugs came right in because we had the lights on. Overall we were very pleased with our stay! It was a wonderful time for us as a family and would recommend this to anyone who likes to be outdoors. :)

I spend 2 weeks in this place. Although it was nice to know that I was helping kids with my money, I rented this place becouse I needed a house to work. I'm a digital nomad. So, my opinion it's not from someone on vacation. If I were on vacation I probably wouldn't even care about any of the above items. It's in a very remote area but the host, Victor, guided us and we were able to arrive easily. Victor is very nice and he is present all the time via messages. He answers very quickly. ABOUT THE HOUSE: The house is simple, very clean. Not very big but very comfortable double beds. Very Good and warm blankets. Very equipped kitchen(!!!). Highly appreciate it. Cons: No shower. We rented in a very short notice and they didn't have the time to check the house. The Water heater was broken. We had to boil the weather to take a bath. POWER runs out all the time. Usually it comes back at 18hs. The house has a solar system with a small batterie that with only 2 computers plagued it runs out in just a couple of hours. I have been told that They are going to fix the heater and replace the solar batterie for a bigger one. THE SCHOOL: the kids are very nice and if you are interested you are free to interact with them. The school has a hostel were the kids sleep and you can go and play with them after classes. NEIGHBORHOOD: I loved it. The people are very calm and respectful. Very peaceful, you don't hear any cars, or music. Just kids playing, birds, and nature sounds. Beautiful silence during the night. It was very healing for us to spend 2 weeks there. To have the chance to reconnect with silence and nature. It was very hard to leave. We wanted to stay longer but our Indian visa was about to expire. FOOD: we bought all the food in Lava, 8km from Kolakham. 2 times. When we arrived and on Tuesday (there is big market in lava). Private jeep to lava from Kolakham: 900inr. (On Tuesday becouse of the lava market you can find a shared taxi (50 each) In Kolakham there are a Couple of shops but the only have very basics things as potato, water, terrible chocolate, and that's it. CONCLUSION: buy your own chocolate and enjoy this amazing place! I would definitely come back here.

Dear Guests, Thanks a lot for your valuable feedback. We deeply express our apologies for the inconvenience caused to you due to shower and electricity. But a small reminder about this place that the house is situated in the valley of Neora forest of West Bengal. And in rural areas in India we still have power crisis. India is still not equipped with the infrastructure to meet the power need for the entire population. For the shower, we did not have the time to fix it before you came, as we took your booking at the very last minute. However, this issue will be solved soon. I think within the budget we rent the full house, we are putting enough serivices for our clients comparatively to the guest houses in that area. Your feedback is valuable for us. Thanks a lot for helping our school. Regards, Victor
