Our apartment has a unique layout rarely seen in city apartments. Located in the heart of Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, our apartment is on the second floor of a three-story walk-up (stairs) building. It has two separate entrances from the hallway, one is a private entrance to the guest’s suite where you will be staying. The 400 square-foot guest’s suite has a living room (front parlor) next to the guest suite. The spacious two-window parlor has a small table with chairs, desk, and large closet with hangers to place your luggage and hang your garments. We also have a steamer if needed.
In the guest suite there is a full size bed with two pillows, nightstand, lamp, ceiling fan with light, full size mirror, wall hooks, and a luggage rack. The suit is equipped with an individual AC unit for your comfort during summer months. Central heating is provided with radiators throughout the apartment during winter months. The front parlor and guest suit is filled with an abundance of indoor plants and sunlight. The front parlor opens to the common kitchen and bathroom area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a toaster oven, blender, teapot, and coffee maker. You may store food in the refrigerator, and cook at anytime, as long as you clean after yourself. SUBWAY STOPS: GETTING TO AND FROM GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN.
Nestled between Williamsburg to the south and the eastern shore of the East River, Greenpoint is a quaint old Polish neighborhood featuring unique places to eat, shop, and enjoy in this part of greater Brooklyn. Calyer Street is located between two G train-line subway stops on Manhattan Ave: the Greenpoint Ave. and Nassau Ave. subway stations. Each stop is a five-minute walk in opposite directions from our apartment building heading to Manhattan Ave. The L train line is about a 10-15 minute walk from the apartment building. Both the G and L train lines will take you to Manhattan in under 10 minutes, where you can connect to all the main lines running north and south along Manhattan.
FOOD IN THE HOOD
When it comes to grub, Greenpoint has something from every corner of the world: Thai, Indian, Italian, Polish, Japanese, and your classic New York style pizza, plus trendy places such as Five Leaves, and Maison Premiere. Your options are endless and most restaurants have take-out and delivery. Greenpoint is considered one of the best places to live and visit in all of Brooklyn.
Our neighborhood is quiet, and safe, where families, artists, and business people and professionals make their residence year-round. A New York police station is just a few blocks away. There is a grocery store located on the corner of Calyer St. and Manhattan Ave., and you will find neighborhood bodegas almost on every street corner for late-night snacks and beer runs. Two blocks away on Meserole & Lorimer St., there is a YMCA, if you feel like hitting the gym and revving up your cardio. The Y provides a three-day guest pass, after which it is $15 per day. All you need is your ID or a Y member card. There is a post-office one block from the apartment on Meserole & Guernsey St.
Within walking distance from the apartment there are two parks very popular with Brooklyners. McCarren Park, a favorite hangout for sunbathers is only four blocks away to the South. The park has a running track, baseball fields, soccer field, dog park, and is surrounded by restaurants, shops, and bars. In addition you may see outdoor exhibits of local artists, and live performances. The East River Park, a lovely 10-minute stroll on Kent Ave heading SE, where you can see Brooklyn street-art and graffiti, is a great place for picnics, reading, soaking up sunrays, playing Frisbee, BBQing, etc. This park hosts the famous and free-of-charge Pool Party Concerts during summer months (July & August). It is one of our favorite places to relax by the water.
Two blocks from our place, on Franklin Ave. are small business boutiques featuring a friendly shopping atmosphere, with great finds you will not see in major department stores. We do all our shopping locally. It is a great way to support local merchants, and add style to your wardrobe that is affordable and unique.
The main nightlife scene is about a 10 to 15 minute walk South to where Bedford Ave and Metropolitan Ave intersect. The area offers a variety of restaurants and bars. We will gladly assist you with recommendations and directions.
Please remove your outdoor shoes at the entrance of the apartment. Unfortunately pets are not allowed in building (but we love animals). No smoking anywhere indoors. Be considerate of other residents: avoid making unnecessary or loud noises while in the building. Also please be considerate of the space you will be staying, pick up after yourself. If there is a problem please do not hesitate to notify us. We are here to help you in anyway.
We care very much about our place and aim to keep it tidy, clean, and organized, and provide our guest with a calm and relaxed atmosphere. We would very much appreciated that you observe the house rules with regard to use of outdoor foot-ware indoors, smoking, noise and use of the kitchen area. Smoking is not permitted indoors, however there is a bench located in the entrance of the building by the rose garden.
We hope that this somewhat detailed description of the guest suite, the area surrounding the apartment building, and local amenities will help prospective guests be confident that their choice to stay with us will meet their expectations with regard to comfort, cleanliness, and safety, in a pleasant yet thriving neighborhood. We will assist you in any way we can to make your stay a memorable one.

One thing we practice in our home is not wearing street shoes throughout the apartment. It's a little ol'fashion but we like to avoid having the place getting dirty. We like to keep it tidy, clean, and organized so it's very much appreciated if you pick up after yourself and wash your own dishes.
We ask that you please not smoke inside the apartment. If you want to smoke there is a bench located in the entrance to the apartment building with rose bushes and flower beds where you can relax and watch the neighborhood come alive.
Please be conscious of noise. No overnight guest are allowed. Basically if your gonna throw wild parties it probably isn't a good fit. We like things calm and relaxed. This private apartment space is a place of zen.

ABOUT YOUR HOST & APT
I've been in this apartment for over 4 years and it is a real gem. I've done a lot of renovating, upgrading, and given this place a lot of tlc to make it the place it has become. It is a place of zen and tranquility.
I'm originally from Venezuela. I started my own company (mayunina) helping artisans in South & Central America sustain a livelyhood by selling their handcrafted creations here in the US. I love interior decor and I'm very passionate about my work, seeing the whole world, and humanitarian work.
I love hosting my friends, family, and out of town guest in my cozy apartment and enjoy living in this neighborhood very much. It's a true community.
I look forward to hosting you.
