Nice comfy second floor 2 bedroom apartment. Ideal for that weekend getaway, or extended business trip. Close to civil war sites, Baltimore, and Washington DC.
Recent additions - installed new floor in the kitchen, and added electric fireplaces in both the living room and the main bedroom.
Two bedroom, one bath second floor non smoking apartment (up to 4 people) located in an historic home in rural Frederick County Maryland 1 hour to Baltimore, 1 ½ hours to Washington DC, ½ hour to Gettysburg PA or Frederick MD, 1 hour to Harpers Ferry WV and Sharpsburg MD.
Use as a base of operations for exploring all that the area has to offer, or just relax in this comfortably decorated apartment with pastoral views of the local farms and meadows. Cable TV, wireless internet, electric fireplace in the living room, full kitchen and off street parking.
This is a great area for bicycling through the rural areas of Frederick and Carroll Counties.

Prospective renters with children: Please note the proximity of the bedroom window to the floor. This is a second story window with old wavey glass. Consider the safety of your children when making a reservation. It is our policy that all children and babies are considered people. Please include all people in the resevation request.
There is a king bed in the larger bedroom, and a full bed in the smaller bedroom. This is the TOTAL sleeping accommodations.
We live out in the country, the closest grocery store is about 8 miles away. You may want to pick up necessities on your way here so you can relax from your travels when you arrive.
Our pets are in a seperate part of the house, not in this apartment.

Guests have access to the apartment, the front porch (great for early morning coffee when warm enough), and the outdoor gardens.

We live downstairs, but respect our guest's privacy. If you want to talk, get directions, or learn about our home and the area, just catch up with us and ask. At check in we will give you a tour of the apartment and then leave you on your own. Most guests are tired from travels and want to rest. Checkout is as simple as leave the key on the kitchen table and leave the door unlocked.
Our home is in a rural part of Frederick County with horse and dairy farms nearby, along with a Rodeo right down the street. There are quiet streets for walking, running or bycicling in the area. Feel free to walk around the property and enjoy the gardens.
The postal address is Union Bridge, but the actual location is the community of Johnsville, about 5 miles south of Union Bridge.
We are about 12 miles northeast of Frederick, and the same distance from Westminster, in a small community of with about a dozen homes.
There is no public transportation available in the area. Parking is available in a lot on the North side of the house. There are numerous side roads suitable for walks or bike riding.
We are located on Rt. 75 which is a main road, but has a 30 MPH speed limit past our home. The apartment is in the back of the house so street noise shouldn't be a problem unless you are a very light sleeper.
This is a second floor walk up apartment. It is not handicap accessible.
There is a large parking lot on the north side of the house. The parking lot is lighted for your convenience.
Our home is on a well and septic system. We have had some comments on water quality. We have a whole house filter and water softener system, but the water is still hard and high in particulates. It has been tested and is safe. We provide a filter pitcher for our guests convenience.
This is a no smoking property.
This is a second floor apartment with no elevator.
We recycle! Please seperate trash from recyclables.
Parking is available in the parking lot just north of the house.
We are on well and septic system, please conserve water and don't dispose of items in the toilet except toilet paper.
There is a filtered water pitcher in the refrigerator for your use, the tap water has been tested and is safe, but it is well water and without additional filtering does have a taste some find unpleasant. There is a whole house filter along with water a softener.
This is our home and we ask that you treat it as such.
Please be aware of these few requests during your stay.
Nothing, absolutely nothing but toilet paper is to be flushed down the toilet. This is an old home with older plumbing.
We have provided hooks and racks in the bath so there is no reason to put wet towels on furniture.
Most important, if you book for two people do not have more than two people stay over.
If you want to expand the number of people please speak to us or change the reservation to include the additional guests and arrangements will be made.
