A bottle of California wine and original photographs of sea lions, otters, whales and harbor seals greet you at this beautifully restored, custom craftsman home. “Sea Lion House,” as we like to call it, was built in 1916 and has been carefully maintained over the years. The original, vintage O’Keefe range still cooks up great meals in the recently remodeled kitchen (with soapstone counters and warm cork flooring). Hard wood floors and the original hard wood paneling adorn the living room and dining room. There are 3 bedrooms, including a huge master suite with a 2nd sitting area that has views of the ocean, an extra room upstairs that can be a play area for the kids or a quiet place to relax, and 2 ½ bathrooms. The front bathroom has the original claw foot tub too!

You’ll have full run of the house, enclosed garden and 2-car garage (with laundry room). We trust that you’ll care for our house, while you're there, with the same love and attention that we give to it. City of Pacific Grove license #0271.

We’re locals and huge fans of Monterey Bay and so provide lots of information and directions about local attractions, golf courses, beaches, restaurants and seasonal festivals. We’re also happy to provide specific recommendations to help make your stay at the Sea Lion House spectacular. We know you’ll love it at the house as much as we do!

At “Sea Lion House” you’re in the heart of Pacific Grove – close to everything – the ocean, Lovers Point Beach, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, deli, bakery, movie theater. It’s all walking distance from the house, which is one of the things we enjoy most about it! The neighborhood is a quiet residential neighborhood with many long-time residents. Please note that everyone in your group will need to respect the Pacific Grove quiet hours (after 10pm), as many of the neighbors work early in the morning. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is less than a mile away. Carmel and the golf courses of Pebble Beach are a short 10-15 minute drive away.

It’s just a few short blocks to the ocean and the promenade that enables Pacific Grove visitors to walk / run / bike / skate for miles along the shore between Cannery Row, the Aquarium and the beautiful, protected Lovers’ Point. And even less (2 short blocks) to the shops, award- winning restaurants, galleries, cafés and movie theater of downtown Pacific Grove.

By car, the historic adobes and wharf of Monterey are a few minutes drive north. The Point Pinos Lighthouse, tide pools, Asilomar beaches and Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary are just a few minutes drive to the west. Pebble Beach, Carmel and the spectacular coast of Big Sur are 10 min., 15 min., and 30 minutes drive, respectively.

The beds and linens are all brand-new. The furniture is also brand-new, luxury furniture or "choice" antiques. There are Hotel Collection towels, beach towels and high thread count sheets. There is also a hot-water shower outside in the enclosed back yard to warm up in and to clean up those sandy toes after an outing to the beach or the local tide pools.

Règlement intérieur
Non fumeur
Ne convient pas aux animaux
Pas de fête ni de soirée
L'entrée dans les lieux se fait après 15:00

* PG is a quiet residential town with strict quiet hours. No conversations outside after 10pm. And please be respectful of the neighbors who all have to work during the day too. And no parties under any circumstances.
* Please be sure your car will safely go down the driveway and into the garage before attempting to park in the garage. The driveway is sloped and the garage doors stick out, such that parking large or long cars in the garage won't work. Drivers assume all responsibility. You're welcome to park in the driveway - always use the car's hand brake to secure it from rolling.
* No smoking, no pets
* Please use the black washcloths to remove make-up, not the white towels
* Please use the colorful beach towels (in the walk-in closet in the master suite) when going to the ocean. Don't take the white towels to the beach.
* $30 charge to replace any of the linens lost, damaged or stained.
* Please treat the original 1930's range (stove and oven) with care. It's truly vintage and in mint condition. There are 4 gas burners and one oven with a warming rack below. The left side of the oven was originally for burning trash, but this is no longer allowed in California, so please don't use that.
* Finally, there’s a $50 charge for lost keys. We suggest putting the keys back in the lock box whenever you leave the house, so they don’t get lost or forgotten in a pocket or a purse.

I'm a California native who lived in Europe (in Germany to be specific) for many years. I work in the tech industry in the heart of Silicon Valley, but I love traveling and have stayed in many vacation homes around the world, enjoying the opportunity to have the extra space and a functional kitchen that a "real home" offers. I love to cook and to bake and have therefore stocked Sea Lion House with the cooking tools I use. You'll want to bring all your own food though. My other "passion" is the ocean. I'm an avid SCUBA diver and photographer and hope that you'll enjoy my original photographs around the house. Almost all the pictures of marine mammals were taken right here in the Monterey Bay or the Elkhorn Slough (accessible from Moss Landing just a 20 min drive north of PG).
