Chris is a nice guy and always available. House is very close to a supermarket which is great!

Chris is a lifesaver! I needed a place for my good friend and carpenter, Gregg, to stay for a night while working on renovations at my Detroit Loves You Guest Home. Chris's two homes are 1 block south and north of mine, respectively, which was perfect! Chris gave Gregg and I a tour of one of his homes, and we were very impressed by his DIY improvements. No wonder these are already popular spots for travelers! Chris is doing the hard work of improving our Piety Hill neighborhood one brick at a time. Please join me in supporting his efforts, and do yourself a favor by booking a stay at Chris's!

My explorations and burgeoning understanding of Detroit and Michigan are indebted to Chris' expertise, generosity, and general good vibes. It doesn't hurt that Chris plays host to a steady stream of fascinating people. Whether we're sipping beer on the porch or stacking bricks in the back it's always a good time at Chris's place!

House looked to be under repair. missing some fixtures, holes in walls, floors and ceiling in areas. Also, no AC.

The house I stayed at needs work but Chris did his best to make us feel welcomed. Experience with Chris and the rest of the visitors were great fun. The house has minimal amenities but was comfortable and safe. Love to see how he turns this house around in a year or two.

I am an artist/researcher, visiting Detroit for the first time. I stayed for a week while and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Chris was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The neighborhood is a short bike ride to trendy midtown, or downtown. Staying at the house really gives a first-hand experience of what it means to take on, and rejuvenate, one of Detroit's many abandoned or challenged houses. Chris is doing some good work in the area, and is really interesting to talk to. The house itself is still partly a 'fixer upper', but everything works and my room was comfortable. If you are looking for a manicured BnB then it's probably not for you. But if you would like to experience Detroit as this process of change takes place then it is the ideal location. Thanks Chris, really enjoyed my stay.

I wasn't able to actually make it over to Chris' pad as planned, but he was more than understanding and flexible to my fluctuating situation. Good people.

I have been a public radio journalist for 25 years. I am used to meeting new people and learning about new things every day. I reported on farmland preservation, public transit and fixing up old buildings. I have four houses now and I do most of the work myself. For seven years I watched as New York City got fixed up. For another seven I traveled through twenty African countries and don't know how to fix them. But we're making progress on parts of Detroit. Have four kids. Love food and music.
