The Castle of Vivo d'Orcia is located in the charming Val d'Orcia in southern Tuscany, 2 hours from Florence, 1 hour from Siena, near cultural jewels as Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano, to name just a few.
Refuge of a Pope, the estate with an imposing castle and the Romanesque church dates back to the eleventh century. The small hermitage was transformed into a sophisticated agricultural center and well organized, when Cardinal Marcello Cervini, later Pope Marcellus II, bought the estate in 1534.
The castle, situated at an altitude of 900 meters, is still owned by the family.
In January 2005 it was published in "The World of Interiors".
Adjacent to the “Casa di Pietro” in the final part of the village of Vivo d’Orcia, is this recently restored apartment.
The charm lies above all in the mix of old and new that makes it particularly welcoming and charmosa.
As well as the ability to access through its doors to the living room, the spacious kitchen and the bedroom of the downstairs bedroom, make it a very pleasant and airy home.
The living room with its beautiful old fireplace in front of which you can read while sitting on two chairs and sofa in the front wall makes this room ideal for evenings in conversation.
The large kitchen with the important opening of the exterior has the dining area on one side and the other equipped counter.
Using a ladder that has kept the old, worn stone steps, it leads to the double bedroom with bathroom en suite, which gives direct access to the courtyard garden with the ‘outdoor living room’ where there is also a dining table shaded by a pergola.
The same staircase leads upstairs where there is a small study room that precedes the beautiful master bedroom with four-poster bed and bathroom en suite.
From one of its two windows overlooking the lawn and the Mount Amiata is particularly fascinating.
The house has a gas meter. 3 units (more than enough for the consumption of hot water) are included in the weekly price. The excess consumption at a cost of 4.50 € per unit. It is estimated that 6/8 hour daily heating have an extra cost of about 150 € per week.
