À propos de ce logement
Beautiful 1100 sqft apartment all to yourself in an ideal location for walking to the best that Portland has to offer. My home is filled with art and artifacts from around the world. Unique, clean and comfortable, this is your perfect launch pad.
Located on the edge of the Arts District, walking distance to the Old Port.
Featuring a fully equipped kitchen, full bath with shower, queen bed, living room, and office space.
Sorry to all those lovely families - this isn't a child-friendly space.
This 1100 sqft apartment in an 1850 house mixes modern comfort with an Asian flair given by curios and mementos gathered during my many journeys to Asia. Unlike many listings, this is a place that represents my personal history, and I hope to find guests who will enjoy its uniqueness, and respect all that I have gathered over the years. That Tibetan Thangka painting was bought on my last trip to Kathmandu while working to electrify a village, that trunk was my mother's, those Indian paintings were acquired on a very special journey to India with my sister. That said, I am very happy for others to enjoy my space, and hope that it provides a unique experience.

Hey potential AirBNB guests! Thanks for checking out my place. Even though I usually don't meet my guests, I do love hosting and have had overall great experiences having people stay in my home.
I want to mention a few things about communication. This is not the Quality Inn. As your potential AirBNB host, I'm inviting you into my home, and that means I think of you as my house guests and CARE that you have a great stay. I'll do my best to make sure you understand everything about your stay, and will answer all your questions in a timely fashion, regardless of whether I'm just upstairs or across the world. Due to time zone differences, I'm often up in the middle of the night communicating with guests. SO... on your side, please answer my communications, or, at least acknowledge them. I do worry that you will know where to find the keys, or that you find everything to be comfortable and as expected, or that you understood what I meant by the message I sent you at 3am from Bangkok. Part of the fun of AirBNB is the interaction between host and guests, so help make this a great experience for both of us!
My neighborhood has energy. From people fixing up historical buildings to the school kids playing highly competitive ball games across the street, this neighborhood is constantly full of life and evolving.
Uber works great as do taxis for getting about town, or to and from the airport, bus and train stations.
This apartment is on the first floor of a two-family home. Being an old house, sound and vibrations do carry (even upstairs) so treading lightly is appreciated!
I DO NOT have cable TV. I offer a digital antenna with basic network channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS...) and a Roku TV with Netflix pre-loaded. It is very difficult to give technical support to people on how to use the TV, so please make sure you're comfortable with these options before booking. I do provide some written instruction that should give you the basic overview.
Please note the following absolutes to make sure this is an appropriate place for you to stay:
No extra guests (this includes having extra people over for dinner or hanging out. Past experience has told me that the result is disruption of the neighbors, and a messy place left behind)
No loud noises
No high heels on my floors
I do ask guests to please remove shoes to help keep the place clean and reduce wear and tear on my soft pine floors. Absolutely NO high heels as they will dent my floors.
PLEASE adhere to the checkout time as I likely have guests coming in and I do pay someone hourly who will arrive to clean the place after you. If you are delayed on checkout, then I will have to pay extra, which will be charged to you.
This isn't a hotel room, but the other half of my home. So I expect my guests to treat it with respect.
These are the absolutes:
No extra guests
No loud noise
I do ask for shoes to be left at the door to help me keep the place cleaner and reduce wear on the soft floors. Absolutely NO high heels as they dent the floors. When you leave, the place should be neat and tidy.

I work as a consultant in the sustainability field, a job that takes me abroad often. I love my life overseas, but always look forward to returning to my home in Portland. For me, life is about packing as much diverse experience in as possible while doing good for the world.
As an AirBNB host, I love to provide my guests with a personalized, comfortable stay that serves as a great jumping off point for exploring my favorite places. You may or may not meet me depending on my travel schedule, but if I'm in town I'd be happy to meet up. You'll be staying in a real home, not a hotel room, where friends and family have gathered and shared great memories over the years. I hope that during your stay you, too, will feel truly at home.
