Description

Swim, sail, kayak or just sit on the porch and enjoy the view! Walk to shops, restaurants and historic Sono from this large house right on Long Island Sound. One mile from the train station, one hour to NYC.

This house is perfect for a large family or two small families. There are four bedrooms, three of which contain queen beds. One of the bedrooms is large and also has bunk-beds. The fourth bedroom has a single bed and a chair-bed. In addition there are 2 sofabeds downstairs: one in the living room and one in a den that you can close with pocket doors for privacy.

There are 2 full bathrooms (the hall bath has a tub, the master bath has a stall shower) and a half bath downstairs, plus a fantastic, private outdoor shower -- great for washing off after a swim.

The house is directly on Long Island Sound. Just walk down a few steps and you can swim, kayak, row or sail. However, you will probably spend most of your days on the large porch overlooking the water!

Renters will have access to 2 floors of the house, plus the basement which has a pool table, ping pong table and laundry machines.

You will also have access to 3 kayaks (two singles and a double) and a small sailboat (a Sunfish).

This is our primary home. We will be renting it when we are away on vacation. You can reach us by email during your stay.

Our house is directly on Long Island Sound. You can kayak, row or sail to one of the famous Norwalk Islands for a picnic. You can walk to a small food market, liquor store, deli and 2 restaurants in the neighborhood. We are about a mile from historic South Norwalk ("SoNo") where you will find lots of restaurants, bars, movies and the famous Maritime Aquarium, a great museum to take the kids on a rainy day.

We are one mile from the East Norwalk train station and about an hour train ride to NYC. We are also about a mile and half from the South Norwalk train station which has more frequent trains than East Norwalk.

We live sustainably. We have solar panels on our roof, low-flow showers and low-flow toilets. Please consider using the clothesline instead of drying your clothes in the dryer.

The house is more than 100 years old and we raised four children here. It is well-loved but shows a little wear and tear. Please treat it with care, especially the original wood inlaid floors and doors.

We have chickens in a fenced part of the yard. A neighbor will be coming twice a day to take care of them. You may feed them table scraps, visit them and even pick them up. They might even lay an egg or two for you!

Règlement intérieur
L'entrée dans les lieux se fait à partir de 16:00

No smoking. No pets (our chickens were once attacked by a dog).

Wonderful, comfortable home perfect for multi generational gatherings in a friendly community. Some guests relaxed on beautiful large breezy porch while others enjoyed activities in the yard (water sports mainly but also trampoline, tire swings, or board games.) Chickens are a fun touch. Guests are encouraged to be conservation minded. Rustic basement was a great escape for teens. The owner made it very easy to use(labels and instructions), the linens were nice and the bath towels looked brand new. It's an older home and should be cared for, it has updated bathrooms and kitchen but the old charm of a Victorian of its era. We are grateful the owners shared their home with its many amenities and hope they had a good experience renting through Airbnb as we would surely like to return.
