Brand new studio apartment with loft bed in a quiet residential part of vibrant Friedrichshain for 1-4 guests. High-quality, custom crafted interiors with authentic materials like oak and concrete. Named after my grandfather & world traveler Otto.

Otto was a world traveler, an always welcome guest and a generous host himself. It was him who inspired us and somewhat initiated us to make this idea happen. Welcome to our studio apartment "Bei Otto", an individual place to stay in Berlin for independently-minded travelers in a quiet and authentic residential area in the northern part of vibrant Friedrichshain.

We have travelled a lot ourselves, near and far, as a couple and as a small familiy. Having stayed in a whole variety of accomodations on this globe, what always enthuses us are clearly designed spaces and authentic concepts.

The street-level studio apartment is located in a special shop-like space in a quiet residential street. The interiors have been entirely planned ourselves and realized in close collaboration with Berlin-based furniture designer Rainer Spehl and a number of helping hands. From top to bottom, from the room layout to the loft bed, from choosing the bathroom tiles to crafting the dining table everything has been individually done for the studio apartment. The existing architecture with its concrete floor and ceiling provided the framework which we filled with interiors made of warm, natural oak.

The very consistent interior with its straight lines and edges is contrasted with individual details and vintage accessories.

The 36 sqm space with its 4 m ceilings which is entered directly from the street is ideally complemented by a generous 7 sqm loft level with queen size bed (1.60 m), reached by a solid oak staircase.

Underneath the loft a convertible sofa bed can accommodate two extra guests and also makes a perfect option for families with children.

Two types of curtains as well as electric shutters provide shield from light and sight through the full-height windows.

Bed sheets and two towels per guest are included.

The small bathroom with walk-in shower which is also situated underneath the loft bed has been designed with the same attention to detail, quality and consistency as the entire studio.

An open-faced kitchenette provides all the essentials and nothing unnecessary for a short-term stay in Berlin: fridge with freezer, dish washer, induction stove (2 hobs), electric kettle, toaster, espresso cooker, french press and basic kitchenware. Simple meals can be easily prepared but we do in fact encourage our guests to go out and experience all that the multifaceted neighborhood with its individual restaurants and cafés has to offer.

We are looking forward to open-minded guests who come to Berlin to experience the city and our "Samariterkiez" neighborhood.

See you soon "bei Otto"!

Our idea is for our guests to go out and explore the immediate neighborhood. We are happy to give personal recommendations for the versatile "Samariterkiez" and Friedrichshain neighborhood where we have been living ourselves for nine years - just two doors next to the studio apartment.

Quiet residential street in a vibrant, multifaceted neighborhood. Individual cafés, small restaurants, vintage shops, (whole food) supermarkets and individuals shops can all be found around the corner.

A few blocks further down you get to "Boxhagener Platz" with its bustling surrounding: farmers market, flea market, many more individual shops, cafés, bars, restaurants, yoga studios, a tiny movie theater and much more to discover.

- 7 min walk from U-Bahn (subway) station "Samariterstrasse" (line U5)
- 10 min walk from U- & S-Bahn (subway & above ground train) "Frankfurter Allee" (lines S(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN))

From Tegel Airport you take the TXL bus to "Beusselstrasse" station. From there you take the S-Bahn (overground train) S41 to "Frankfurter Allee" station. From there it’s a 10min walk. About 1:30h total travel time.

From Schönefeld Airport take the S-Bahn (overground train) S9 directly to "Frankfurter Allee" station. From there it’s a 10 min walk. Approx. 1hour total travel time.

Parking is possible free of charge in our section of the street (Dolziger Strasse between Proskauerstr. and Voigtstr.) but not from Voigstr. onwards and some neighboring streets so please watch out for the signs. At least during daytime it is no problem to find a parking space in our street. You can also unload the car directly in front of the apartment as there is a driveway just next to it.
