I'm around most of the time so if you need someone to talk to about our confusing cultures and languages (haha) or help with getting around, I'd be glad to assist.
I live with 3 cute little budgies (err...birds). They are usually playing or flirting in their cage in the balcony and sleep in the utility room off the wet kitchen at night. If you have a fear of birds, they'd happily stay out of your sight. And no, they don't get to cruise around the apartment unsupervised. Actually, they sometimes need to be dragged out for exercise, like most humans.
For security, your friends or visitors are not allowed into the apartment or use the facilities available to you. But if you're staying long-term like a month and would like to have a bbq, it's perfectly fine. The kitchen is open for cooking but do clean up after yourself. You are responsible for cleaning your room and bathroom (if you are solely using it. For shared bathroom, cleaning will be done twice weekly for you. Smoking in the balcony area is fine but strictly prohibited in the room or apt.
One of my most memorable stays is at a sustainable farm in Australia where I was vetted too before being accepted--those were pre-Airbnb days. I've frequented Europe and Asia and lived in the US and Australia too. I'm versatile when it comes to a roof for the night but the space must be clean & pleasant. So I offer the same. I like nature, ethnic stuff and healthy eating. My travels now are more geared towards off-the-beaten-track places so if you're in one of these, we just might hook up soon :-)
