My husband and I just spent seven weeks at Husky Ranch and can't say enough to sing its praises! The view from this private cottage over Kachemak Bay and two glaciers was spectacular! Sometimes it was hard to leave to explore other areas of Homer. We feel very connected with this warm community and definitely plan to return.

Amazing view . Good for one couple or a couple with a child. Very nice we were able to bring our dogs the property is clean and organized. The two bedrooms share an exit with one door so very little privacy between whoever your staying with. Takes 25 mins to get to the end of the spit .

Thanks for your reminder! I used to have an attractive, heavy cloth partition for privacy and it got taken down; going back up today per your nudge! I'm glad you enjoyed the view I get to share!

Unforgettable views, comfortable home, private location. Squeaky bedroom floors and one of the bedrooms does not have a private door (we were two couples). No toilet paper allowed down the toilet, which was a little inconvenient, but manageable. We'd definitely stay there again and recommend it to our friends.

Our stay at Lorraine's was magical. The house is adorable, and the view from the patio, living room, and bedroom is unimaginable, and even more beautiful than in the photos. She has two thirty something year old horses on the property who we enjoyed feeding carrots to. Verna was an absolute sweetheart, and she recommended tons of things for us to do during our time in Alaska. We especially enjoyed her dog Charlie, who very clearly loves guests. After our stay, Lorraine even invited us over to meet some of her mush pups. If we are ever in Alaska again, there is no doubt in my mind we will stay at the husky ranch again.

I arrived in Alaska in 1984 after graduating from UC Santa Barbara but I originally hail from the San Francisco Bay Area. Since I've been here, I've been a dog musher doing tours in the back country and worked on boats; I fished, deck handed, cooked and ultimately captained boats for 10 years. For the last 21 years I've done motivational assemblies in schools all over the west coast during the winter months, summers I created a tour of this quaint town through Princess Lodge! My partner Mike is from Big Timber, MT and after a stint in Sand Point, AK in the 80's, he raised a family in MT then came back to Alaska where we met, and the rest is, as they say, 'history'! We enjoy travel which includes hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru, hiking, geocaching and riding our bikes up to the Russian Falls for dip netting salmon to fill our freezer for the winter! He is an expert craftsman carpenter and the one responsible for the awesome tile work in shower and the special touches in the construction! The welcoming committee here consists of our 'kids', "Cabo" and "Willow" and new addition, "Vixen". They will undoubtedly make you feel like you are the most important thing in the world, so hey, enjoy it!
I'll end with my favorite quote I share with all the students I present to:
"To be a star, you must shine your own light, follow your own path and don't worry about the darkness, for that is when stars shine the brightest".
