This is intended to be a fair, honest review rather than a damning one. Great quiet location in Kelvinside. Within walking distance of the fabulous Byres Rd. Building was covered in scaffolding with ongoing building works outside. Never met the host as she claimed to be busy with family issues, was instead met by a "representative" who didn't know a great deal about the accommodation nor have the time to properly show us around/familiarise us with anything (general intro to the place, method for putting on heating/hot water, setting up wifi, explaining any faults or quirks etc). On her leaving and on closer inspection of the flat it quickly became clear that this wasn't an apartment that was at anytime someone's home but a specific revenue generating unit that had had very little personal care, love or expense thrown at it. The flat was very unclean, utensils dirty, with a range of faults (wifi not working, television worked intermittently, broken and very outdated furnishings, camp bed totally unfit for sleeping on...I could go on). On our second day it started to rain heavily and within minutes we were faced with a deluge of water cascading through the ceiling within the living room and adjoining corridor right outside the door to the flat. I immediately recorded video footage of what was happening and sent it to the host who's advice was for me to find buckets to catch as much of the water as I could and nothing could be done for 48 hours to repair. When someone did contact me to enquire about the problem they were unaware of the address I was staying at as the landlady/host had numerous units the maintenance man knew of and had sent him to the wrong place. At this point I decided to take my family to a nearby hotel as we felt neither comfortable, clean nor safe. I didn't bother contacting the host again as it was now very clear that I was dealing with a professional landlord with multiple low quality units in the area and sadly the welfare of Airbnb guests evidently seemed somewhat down her list of priorities. On the scheduled morning of departure I received a message from the host advising me to return the keys to an individual at another address nearby. On arrival at the address (which turned out to be a dilapidated guest house) I eventually found a receptionist who accepted the keys without any interest as to how our stay was and any problems we may have encountered. On the face of it there is nothing wrong with renting tired cheap bedsit type accommodation just so long as you advertise what you're offering accurately without misleading and subsequently price the rate accordingly. This place wasn't worth half the money it was listed for. I would never stay in one of Elizabeth s Airbnb places again and therefore cannot recommend this place to anyone. I sincerely hope the host takes heed of the feedback but I doubt it very much as she hasn't even bothered to leave...

I have happily spent the last 30 years maintaining this amazing tudor style mansion, hosting many long term guests from film stars to brain surgeons ,meeting interesting people.I have furnished it with the treasures that I have collected while dealing antiques. Now trying to de clutter and bring into 21 St century while maintaining the character and original Victorian architectural features of high ceilings with amazing stained glass windows and beautiful feature fireplaces, enormous windows.
This is a very quiet place,in the midst of the bustling west end your guaranteed a peaceful nights sleep with only the sound of birds to wake you in the morning..
