I had a great stay! The location is beautiful and very rural. The housing was extremely nice. I loved being on the ranch with the goats and dogs. Jim and Rori are wonderful and showed great hospitality. Rori even let me feed a baby goat. I would definitely stay here again!

My boyfriend and I came up to explore the Columbia Highlands area of Northeastern Washington, but we could have easily hung out at the ranch the whole time. Jim and Rori have a gem out here. The place is spotless and the hosts were super friendly and helpful throughout checking in and getting settled, they even got the BBQ started for us to grill some salmon when we first arrived. The house and land are so gorgeous the photos don't do it justice. I mean, truly special. We loved sitting on the back patio that overlooks the property drinking coffee, reading, and hanging out with the animals. In the evening we made dinners and watched the sun set over the Kettle range while the hummingbirds did their thing all around us for hours. Paradise.

Jim & Rori's place is magnificiant! It is even more beautiful than the pictures. It is spacious and very comfortable. We felt like it was our home away from home. They have thought of everything to make your stay as memorable and comfortable as possible. Rori even baked us goodies while we were there. The view from inside the home is incredible! We sat in the living room on the couch or on the patio in the evening and would watch the gorgeous sunsets. We enjoyed visiting with Rori and her goats/sheep down by the barn everyday. Their dogs Graham and Spencer were sweet and would come visit with us. Graham liked to take us for walks in the evenings. He was an absolute sweetheart. The tulip garden was in full bloom and their orchard with a few crabapple trees were so beautiful. We have been home for only a day and are already planning our visit next year with Jim & Rori.

Jim and Rori were the best of hosts. They coordinated with me the best route to go to get to the house. They left out some freshly baked zucchini bread. They had a roaring fire ready for me and Jim even kept it going all day while I was at work! I got to feed the goats ritz crackers and I was very popular with them! They invited me for a dinner with them one night, and they had the fridge stocked with goodies for me to enjoy! Overall they were A+ guests. I can't wait to come back and see the new baby goats !!!

Staying with Jim and Rori was, without question, one of the best vacations I have had in recent years. First, this ranch is amazing. This 300 acre ranch affords wonderful walks on numerous trails, wildlife viewing, and a chance to meet goats, cattle, and friendly dogs. The lay of this land is spectacular and you can walk most everywhere on the property without seeing another house besides the Draper’s. I don’t recall ever seeing an airplane in the sky, either. In short, this ranch is so completely different from living in the city that, staying here for a while, I came to believe that a giant re-set switch had been pushed and that I was living in a world quite apart from my city experience. Second, the guest house is very comfortable, clean, and comparatively new, with nine-foot ceilings and lots of windows – all with good views. The kitchen is pleasant, and is provided with plenty of good quality utensils, a full size fridge, and a good range. The bathroom (with shared laundry) is roomy, clean, and modern. The bedroom is large, with a single and a queen bed. The queen bed is very firm and I slept extremely well on it. I was surprised that the space is also furnished with extremely fine quality furniture, designed and built by Jim, an expert woodworker. There is also a very large porch just outside the entrance with a large dining table and sitting areas. Third, the visitor may be invited to try fruits from the orchard (there are several heir-loom trees), garden vegetables, and goat’s milk. Now before you say “I hate the taste of goat’s milk!”, please try Rori’s goat’s milk.. Not only not strange-tasting, but good! Also, if tomatoes are in season, you may agree with me that there are no better tomatoes than those that grow in their garden. Fourth, Jim and Rori go out of their way to make their visitors comfortable. Since the ranch is far away from any store or restaurant, they supply the guest house with some food. Whenever they went into town, they would ask me if they could get me anything. But, the guest should know that it is important to bring plenty of food with them or long drives to the store or a restaurant will be necessary (they’re about 25 miles away)! Fifth, Rori supplied me with her Australian Kelpie (dog) for my walks. Graham was a great companion on these walks and made me feel that I could never get lost! Out on the trails, he came to me quickly on voice command.. If these descriptions don’t seem interesting, this is definitely not your kind of place. But, if you want a very different kind of vacation stay, this is, in my opinion, a remarkable place to consider.

This ranch is a serious jewel. No filter in those profile pictures. They have a secluded, quiet and beautiful refuge perfect to get away from the noisy city and its rush. We enjoyed every single moment of it. Our daughter was more than happy feeding and milking the goats and taking walks with their dog, Graham. Jim and Rori are awesome hosts, very thoughtful and friendly. The house is cozy and, yes, all the furniture was made by Jim, he is really an artist of his craft. We are looking forward to coming back soon or to be able to host them in Colombia.

I am a retired Chemist-Programmer, now mostly doing professional wood-working and projects around our Ranch with my wife. Rori likes to quilt, reads pretty much a book a day, and has kept goats for over 20 years. Together, we enjoy dancing (swing & country) and travel, especially to Mexico and other Latin American countries. We relocated to Rice Washington after 25 years in Alaska, also having had a small farm up there. I’m also an EMT and Firefighter in our local Volunteer Fire Department (Stevens County FPD #12) , doing both fire and EMS calls in our district. Rori is also active in various other Volunteer organizations around our small community. We enjoy meeting new people and cooking for our neighbors.
