We encourage you to help yourselves to the food and drink in the kitchen and fridge. We are not a full-fledged bed-n-breakfast, but we do set-out cereal bars, juice, and a few snacks - offerings vary; we try to provide “just a little something” for your 1st morning. There's lots of tea, and there's plenty of locally-roasted, fresh-ground coffee. If you're a 12-cup-a-day type, let us know; we'll grind extra :-)

Sauna Rule: children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Laundry is stocked with detergent, bleach, etc. The washing machine is a front-loader; so after use, please leave the washing machine door slightly open, to air-out.

First Aid Kit is in the small chest in the hall bathroom.

Feel free to use the Back Yard between 9:00 AM and 10:00 PM, but note that the yard is shared with others; so parties/events or use of the yard for long periods (e.g. all day) must be coordinated with the hosts. The Front Porch is also available all day until 10:00 PM. Please do not leave any personal belongings or trash in the common areas: hallway, porches, yard, walkways.

We enjoy greeting our guests at check-in and showing them around the apartment, but it’s not necessary. If you prefer to settle-in and explore the place on your own, that’s fine with us; there’s a Welcome sheet on the table with basic information about the apartment and the neighborhood: WiFi login, contact info, things-to-do in Chatt, etc. If you have questions or you need something, call/text us (24/7). Feel free to make requests, e.g. if you want to use the back yard for a party, or you need a good recipe for butternut squash :-). The day following your arrival, we will call or text to see if everything is ok.

We respect your privacy; so we won't be hovering. We leave it to you to call if you need something.

Oh.. Tom is tri-lingual: speaks English (native Chicagoan), habla Espanol muy bien, et parle Francais asez bien.

We want you to enjoy your stay with us. We want you to return. We want you to tell others what a great time you had! So let us know how we can help make your stay a wonderful experience.

We love our Southside neighborhood. It's Pedestrian- and Bike-Friendly, with many attractions within walking distance: Jefferson Heights Park, Bluegrass Grill (excellent) - open for breakfast & lunch, try the whole wheat biscuits (closed Sun-Mon), Niedlov's bakery has fresh croissants and yummy quiche every day (closed on Sunday), Slick's has burgers, the Flying Squirrel is an award-winning neighborhood bar with some tasty bites, the Terminal Brewhouse Restaurant offers its own craft beers and good eats. We provide plenty of locally-roasted fresh-ground coffee at the Airbnb apartment, but if you want to grab a cup in the neighborhood, there's Mean Mug on Main just west of Market St. Adelle's Creperie is 2 short blocks away; they offer sweet and savory crepes and ice cream - open Mon-Sat for breakfast and lunch (close @ 2:00pm).

Think you're clever enough to escape from a locked room? Have your group try it at Escape Experience; it's only 2 blocks away. After your Escape, walk 1 block down Rossville to Taqueria Jalisco, a tiny family-run Mexican restaurant for some Tacos or a Huarache con Huevo; this is a local jewel.

If you're an Art Lover, Chattanooga has Art everywhere: on the streets, in parks, in [and on] buildings - even in our Airbnb apartment! The Southside has many Galleries - several on Main St, and in the nearby Cowart Place neighborhood. On Mitchell you'll find the Artists Gallery Residence (fun place! call 1st). You can walk, bike, or take a 2-minute drive to Sculpture Fields Park and enjoy the outdoor sculptures (it's free!), maybe even have a picnic. North Chatt also has several very nice Galleries.

If you plan to cook and you need some fresh meat or hand-crafted sausages, Main St Meats is only a few blocks away - they have fresh meats from small local farms, and they have a nice bistro-style eatery.

The nearby Choo-Choo complex (Main & Market) also has lots of fun-things to enjoy (music, dining, comedy, and more). If you're here on a Wednesday afternoon, there's the small Farmer's Market 3 blocks away. On Sundays (Apr-Oct) we have the big all-day Market at the Tennessee Pavilion. Just west of Broad St., right near the TN Pavilion you'll find The Southside Social: a "family-friendly boutique bowling alley and indoor gaming space", they also have 3 bars and some eats (after 9:00 pm, you must be 21). Every Friday evening in summer, Miller Plaza has Nightfall: a free outdoor music concert; performers vary.

Wanna do some shopping? Go to Warehouse Row on Market St; it has all kinds of shops: shoes, jewelry, clothes, gifts, restaurants, even a yoga studio. While you're there, check out Two-Ten-Jack a Japanese-inspired pub, offering Japanese-style lunch bytes (sushi, ramen, etc.), sake, beer, and much more. There are also many stores and shops on Market St and Broad St between Southside and the River (Downtown), and on Frazier Ave in North Chatt.

Take the Walnut St Pedestrian Bridge from Downtown over the River to North Chatt. It will take you to Frazier Ave where there are many shops, stores, galleries, bars, restaurants, and some great locally-made ice cream at Clumpies. In Coolidge Park, you can enjoy a stroll along the River and have a picnic; you can also take a ride on a unique hand-made carrousel. Right near the carrousel, there’s a large fountain surrounded by sculpted animals; water-jets come up out of the ground and from the animals. On hot summer days, children [of all ages] run through the water-jets squealing and laughing. What a treat! Chattanooga Theatre Center is also in Coolidge Park; they have live plays and musicals. Getting back to Frazier Ave, we especially like the Tapas at Terra Nostra; the food and wine are excellent. A few blocks west of the Market St bridge on Cherokee you can sample some local craft beer at Heaven & Ale's tasting room.

There's lots more, like Renaissance Park in North Chatt, or rock-climbing up the side of a downtown building, but you have to discover some things for yourself :-)

The Choo-Choo complex is 6 blocks away. It has plenty of parking and a free Electric Shuttle, departing every few minutes, that will take you to many of the downtown attractions: Aquarium, River Front, Ross' Landing, Chattanooga Ducks, Warehouse Row, Restaurants, and much more. Chattanooga is Pedestrian- and Bike-Friendly. If you're a walker, you can easily walk to most attractions. Or you can rent a bike on Main St in front of the Fire Station; bike parking is plentiful in the Southside and Downtown areas. If you're Downtown, bike or walk to the North Chatt neighborhood using the Pedestrian Bridge; it's a really neat piece of Chattanooga history.

In case of an emergency, call 911 first! Then contact us; we live in the neighborhood; so we can be there in minutes.

love staying with Tom & Lorraine!! They are so easy to communicate with and have every detail all figured out! The amenities are the best; down to mini individual ice creams in the freezer, hand ground coffee and fresh local bagels waiting for you. Always looking to see if this place is available first when visiting Chattanooga.

This is a two bedroom walkup, new and in great shape. It is located in a quadruplex in a very hip pocket neighborhood with neo-craftsman homes and duplexes within walking distance of a number of excellent coffeehouses, restaurants and pubs. The apartment is light, spacious, quiet, comfortable and altogether agreeable. The owners clearly have the gift of hospitality and provide a lightly stocked frig and the occasional snack. A first rate place to stay.

Tom and Lorraine's place was excellent. So many amenities, all organic by the way and everything was so helpful. Tom checked in on us and made sure all was well, but at the same time we had so much privacy and truly felt like locals. I would definitely recommend this place to couples, small groups, and families.

The place was clean, and artsy which is perfect for a true Chattanooga experience! The owners go that extra mile by providing a pleasant surprise of wine and various snack supplies! A+

I can't compliment these hosts enough. They were so very warm, welcoming, communicative. They unexpectedly supplied us with anything we would ever think to need or WANT! Make sure to meet with Tom (he offers), he's an incredible host and person. I (we) couldn't have wanted any more of this AirBnb experience!!!!

We moved to Chattanooga from Chicago (via Atlanta); we visited Chattanooga 12 years ago, and fell in love w/ the city and its people. We are proud of our city's emphasis on Green Living. In the 12+ years we have been in Chattanooga, we have seen the city grow and prosper; our Southside neighborhood is a good example. We are glad to have witnessed, and proud to have been a part of, that growth and prosperity.

Lorraine is a retired teacher with a passion for gardening, reading, and chocolate, and Tom is a retired software developer with a passion for mathematics and gourmet cooking. We met in Chicago when Tom was studying Math at the University of Illinois in Chicago, and Lorraine was a Montessori teacher, having graduated from Valparaiso University. We got married 36 years ago, and it’s been fun ever since.

We enjoy many music styles (rock, jazz, folk, classical, opera, international), and we love to dance. Our palates are attracted to various ethnic cuisines (Italian, French, Greek, Mexican, Indian, Middle Eastern – almost anything with garlic!); many of which Tom prepares at home. We also enjoy a good wine or a craft beer with our meals.

We both speak English (native Chicagoans). Tom also speaks: Espanol (muy bien) and Francais (asez bien).
