Our three bedroom cottage is perfect for your stay in Melbourne.
With fresh produce in the garden, a deep soaker bath, central gas heating and three large bedrooms and a north facing studio, your stay is guaranteed to be comfortable and relaxed.
Located in Preston 11km from the CBD, the house is walking distance to trams, trains and regular buses. The 86 Tram will take you into the city via Northcote, Clifton Hill, Smith St Collingwood, Gertrude St Fitzroy and Carlton Gardens. Each of these have a great food and live music options and some of the best cafes, galleries in Melbourne.
Preston itself is one of the most culturally diverse suburbs in Melbourne and there's no better place to experience that than the Preston Market, a short 10 minute walk from the door. The market is open from Wednesday to Saturday and attracts people from all over Melbourne. Its an incredible mix of fresh produce, meats, local wines, whole foods and fresh flowers. During it's peak on Saturdays it's an authentic Melbourne experience- so be sure to head down there for some quality people watching and culinary bargains.
The house itself is a 1940's weatherboard cottage with retained original features, it has off street parking, polished timber floors and has been freshly painted inside and out. There are two sitting/lounge areas- the north facing one opens out onto a back deck area which is great for small children and has swings and a sandpit. There is a modern laundry featuring a Bosch front loader washing machine and undercover clothes line. We renovated the bathroom in 2009 and the stone floors and deep soaker bath make it one of the best rooms in the house.
There are 3 good sized bedrooms. The master bedroom contains a queen sized bed and a cot, which can be removed if not needed. The second bedroom also contains a queen sized bed whilst the third bedroom contains a king single with a king single trundle underneath for use if required. The studio out the back has an ottoman and desk, with power, wireless access and a convection heater it is a good space if you need to get work done or just to relax and read a book.
The kitchen has a gas cook top and oven and a large fridge as well as plenty of storage room for groceries and wine. Toaster, kettle, rice cooker, slow cooker and microwave as well as all the utensils, pots and pans and any other cooking equipment you might need.
The front garden is a dedicated permaculture garden that we've built up over 5 years which is fed by rainwater tanks. The edibles include feijoa, mandarins, spinach, radishs, beans, eggplants, capcsicum, potatoes, and peach trees as well as a perpetual crop of silverbeet and kitchen herbs. We encourage you to eat from the garden while you are here! There are also a number of established natives. The house has grid connected solar panels and may go some way to offsetting your flights if that's how you are travelling...
The front and back yards are fenced off with spring loaded gates and the main living areas are quiet and north facing at the back of the house.
We've had lots of happy times in this house so we're sure that you will too. Thanks for reading and we hope you enjoy your time in Melbourne.
Respect is all that's needed

We live with our two sons Auley and Romy, four and one, who love playing with toy trains and chewing on random things, respectively.
