Welcome to my home! I renovated my home with myself, the artist, in mind.
I can not always be in Italy so I can offer it to guests to share the beauty of Nardò and the Salento region of Puglia.
Casa d'Artista is on a quiet street of the historic center of Nardò. Being a ground floor house, its very easy to move in and out without climbing stairs: within 7 minute walk to Piazza Salandra. Free parking is available outside the "ring" wall of the historic center, easy walking distance. You can drive your car in to drop off your luggage.
Casa d'Artista is ideal for a couple but 4 people can also be comfortable here. There is a nice size dining room, with original entry/exit from the street (and courtyard), living room with fireplace with a high end Italian couch, coffee table, work table and shelves. There is a small size sleeping sofa in the dining room for additional sleeping for children. (note: 2floor bedroom may not be suitable for children)
The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom, large armadio with washer, dryer and cleaning supplies. Use dryer only in winter months.
The bathroom has traditional "cementine" tile, a marble top sink, toilet and bidet and walk in shower with rain shower head fixture. There is a remote control skylight over the shower and corridor that also allows light and air to flow in.
All rooms have AC units which give some heat as well. We have radiator heat, an all new electric, heating and plumbing system. Beautiful lighting throughout.
The kitchen: wood counter top, custom cabinets, a fireplace (wood can be purchased nearby), 5 burner gas cooktop, Miele frig with wine storage rack, a big stainless steel sink (note: no dishwasher). It is fully equipped with silverware, plates, glasses, spices and staples like sugar, flour and olive oil. Open shelving for easy access to plates, cups, glasses etc.
From the kitchen you ascend to the upper floor by the original staircase.
The upstair bedroom is a "divano letto"/ sofa bed there is normal double size: High quality mattress and its own ac unit.
The large terrace is surrounded by wonderful old buildings, there is cushioned seating along the edge, an outdoor shower, chaise lounges, low tables, cactus, folding chairs, lanterns and battery operated candles. There is a sink and counter for outdoor eating and a 10 person custom dining table. Modern hidden mood lighting enhance your evenings.
There is excellent wifi internet and you can connect to my SONOS speaker with your music. There is a security system (though it is very safe here) with a buzzer and video camera.
The courtyard is totally private and can be accessed by 3 doors on the inside and the double door gate from the street. It is calm and quiet and cool.
Table and chairs for evening eating and relaxing. There is an old well we found there and cactus plants.
There is limited traffic in Nardò center so things are quiet.

I will provide a nice guest guide of recommendations to enjoy.
Easy ground floor living, great for people with mobility issues. When you book for more than 7 days, I require that you also cover the cost of one cleaning by Serenella.
Upper floor bedroom, not suitable for young children. No smoking, no pets. Floors stain easily :) please be careful. Use clothes dryer only in the winter months.

I am an artist and I divide my time between St Louis, Brooklyn NY and Italy. ITALY: I fell in love with Italy on a semester abroad program returning often after school to travel to the many beautiful regions of Italy. After some years I decided it was time to create a more permanent relationship and purchased a small home in the cute little village of Piedicolle, PG. Later I renovated a larger farmhouse home there which I managed as a holiday rental home. I spent many years happy years living in Umbria Italy. After a few lovely trips to Puglia, and due to some personal changes, I decided to relocate to this lovely unspoiled area.
My place in Nardò centro storico, is a perfect size for 2-4 people and for me! I hope to spend more time here in the future, but for now, I offer it for you.
BROOKLYN: after many years living in the East Village I decided for a change to the artist filled area of Bushwick. My building is mixed use with a hi end hair salon on the ground floor, an apartment on the 2nd floor, and my personal apartment on the 3rd floor where you will stay. Everyone in the building knows each other and we feel very safe. The neighborhood is quiet but yet near all the action. Everything you need is within 5 blocks.
