Welcome to the Fulton House, nestled in the Ouachita National Forest, overlooking the Ouachita River and the mountains beyond. The house itself has two levels, each with a complete living suite including a spacious bedroom, private bathroom and living room. The lower living room also has a full size futon to accommodate additional guests. There is a full sized washer and dryer in the utility room off the lower living room. On the grounds are a large pavilion with electricity and a gas grill, and a separate campfire area with log benches. It is a perfect place to enjoy outdoor adventure - biking, hiking, canoeing, cooking and eating in an open pavilion - or to simply relax in the comfort of the house and share the serenity of the mountains and forest. The Fulton House is located very close to the Womble Trailhead and Camp Ozark and is within easy driving distance of Lake Ouachita.

Guests have the entire house and grounds to themselves. Both the upper and lower levels have ground-level access from the outside.

The owners live out of sight, about 1,000 feet up the river. When you arrive, we'll show you through the house and give you the key. After that we'll leave you alone, but feel free to call us if you need anything. When you depart, you can leave the key on the kitchen table.

The Fulton House occupies a 15 acre tract of privately held land within the national forest. It is located about 9 miles (the last 4 of which are on a gravel road) from the town of Mount Ida, and roughly an hour's drive from Hot Springs. Mount Ida is the county seat of Montgomery County, with a population of about 1,000 people - it has several restaurants, a grocery store, as well as shops and businesses, and live music Saturdays on the courthouse lawn during the summer.

There is ample parking around the house for multiple cars. The driveway is gravel and somewhat steep - please drive carefully!

The area around the Fulton House is very scenic, but it is on the top of a mountain in rugged country. Children should always be accompanied by an adult.

We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute. This is one of the most beautiful view I have enjoyed for years, we truly felt living in the tree tops, right in the middle of the nature. The house presents amazing scenic views of forest, the river and we spend hour looking at the birds and enjoyed the amazing sunset. The house is very private and peaceful. It is well positioned to visit the area but you can also enjoy walks 5 minutes away together with access to river canoeing which we also enjoyed. Overall, a fantastic place for nature lovers and for anyone looking for an escape from the city. The place is well equipped (inside and outside) and clean. Joe was great at communicating with us and met us as agreed to hand over the keys plus give us a tour of the property. We would love to come back. We stayed 3 adults and 2 children (7 and 9 years old) - highly recommended for families with children.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends and family. It was so nice for them to be able to walk right out the door and go fishing. The kitchen is STOCKED with everything you could ever possibly need. Linens, towels, little things in case you forgot them, it had everything you would need. The grilling area was great, and when we ran out of propane one night, Joe had it replaced the very next morning. He and Barbara were very helpful before and during our stay. We had a wonderful trip with our two kids (ages 8 and 5 months).

Joe did a great job communicating leading up to our arrival. The place was absolutely beautiful!! Joe let us be after a quick initial tour but made himself available if we needed anything. First Rate!

The Fulton house is a charming 60's two level cabin. It offers a spectacular sunset view, view of the river and the surrounding forest. The fishing on the Ouachita was excellent and the river was clear. The house itself is very homey and inviting. The fish cleaning station and BBQ came in very handy! The owners are the most accommodating and friendly hosts we have ever encountered. When we found out the local kayak place was out of kayaks and canoes, Joe let us use his. He and his lovely wife Barbara went above and beyond all our expectations. The house had all the things we needed and more, we only needed to bring clothing, hiking boots, fishing poles and food. We will be looking to stay here again in the future.

Joe and Barbara provided excellent communication prior to arrival and there is a helpful binder of information at the house. The house has breathtaking views and is situated in a network of gravel roads that provide access to trail heads and recreation areas by the river. It was a perfect place to gather with friends and small children, in that there was ample space for visiting and relaxing on rocking chairs, and a well-appointed kitchen for lots of cooking and baking. We took a hike (our visit was in early July), and I would take seriously the recommendation of bug spray with DEET. There are chiggers in the woods, and we opted for natural bug repellent, which I would advise against!

My wife Barbara and I are retired and living our dream here on the Ouachita River. We like music and movies as well as the great outdoors.
