Description

The Cob Cottage is a charming, small, one roomed cabin built from cob (directly applied mud) and recycled materials. It has drawn much attention from visiting guests so is now available as a cosy accommodation.

The Cob Cottage is a charming small, one roomed outbuilding near the main homestead at Tumbledown. Its thick cob walls keep it cool in summer and cosy in winter. It boasts a queen bed, a writing desk, blacksmith made potbelly and electric kettle and tea and coffee.

Guests share the nearby homestead bathroom, composting loo, big country kitchen and living areas, as well as having full access to the 100 acre natural granite bushland of Tumbledown Nature Refuge.

The Sonego Lane/Banksia Lane neighbourhood is remarkable for its small cohesive community and absolute peace and quiet as well as the large tracts of pristine granite bushland that contribute to the community's unique character.

There is no public transport. Guess travel here by car, bicycle or on foot. We haven't had anyone fly in yet... but you never know, eh. ;)

This is a covenanted Nature Refuge. That means we live here as if it was a national park. We ask our guests to respect all living entities and the environmental values taken into consideration during the covenanting process. Rare animals and plants live here too. That's what makes it such a special place to visit. We also ask our guests to be responsible for their own rubbish as we do not have a garbage service and have to travel a round trip of 40 km to dispose of rubbish. Respect our sustainability values and enjoy the pristine beauty of this unique place.

L'heure d'entrée dans les lieux est 14:00 - 21:00.

No rules here but please understand that water and power are finite resources in a dry landscape, and use conservatively. There is extremely limited and expensive satellite internet meaning we cannot offer it to our guests. Unplug for the duration of your stay. We have to and we like it. You will not have mobile phone coverage here unless you have a Telstra ticked phone, but we do not mind guests using our antenna boosted system. Please respect the natural heritage values of the property and enjoy its enormous benefits. Thank you.

Hello and welcome, My name is jayn. I will be your host during your stay here at Tumbledown. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing about their lifestyles in other parts of the world. I am a keen sustainable life stylist enjoy organic gardening, diy, love riding a bicycle with others and chatting in a philosophical vein. I have many skills gathered over many years of building my own houses, blacksmithing, woodwork and working in the local orchards, vineyards and olive groves as an arborist and harvest picker. Always open to new ideas too. Life motto: Hmm.... never give up. :)

Here is a little vid of my place! Enjoy :)
