We live just outside winchester so it takes us about 5 minutes to get to the apartment to sort out any problems you may have or give help with any advice about where to go or what to do.

There are 3 apartments available to book - Flat 1, The garden apartment is available on another listing and is quieter, larger and more expensive than the other two. The other two, flat 2, on the ground floor and flat 4 on the first floor have sitting rooms facing the road and bedrooms on a quiet side road, there is excellent soundproof new double glazing to cut out the noise from the road, but if the windows are open you can hear the traffic. The apartments are in the city centre, so if you are used to quiet countryside you may wish to chose one of our other properties or the Garden Apartment which are all very quiet.

The apartment is one of 5 in Park House and so please respect the privacy or other residents and don't disturb them with loud music or loud tvs. We ask guests to leave the apartment in the same clean and tidy state in which you find it with no rubbish left in the apartment. Strictly no smoking, and only the number of guests booked to stay there. If you need extra bed linen or towels, please ask us, do not help yourselves as this leave us short for the next people arriving.

Lovely centrally located apartment, everything is within walking distance. Apartment is cosy but comfortable. Being located next to a busy road, it can be a bit noisy, so bring earplugs for a good night's sleep!

Caroline's place was good for our stay. It is located perfectly whether you want to go for a run or a walk in North Walls park at the end of the street, or walk into the High Street for shopping or to pick up a quick cup of coffee. The place was clean and well-equipped and communication with Caroline was good and responsive. An added bonus was the availability of an off-street private parking space which given the proximity to the city center is a big plus. The description is accurate - noise is the main problem, both from the street, people walking by and from the neighbours above. The description prepared us for that so it was no surprise. In cooler whether when the windows can be kept closed, this would not be as great a problem. All in all, a good stay. Thanks Caroline!

Future guests please note that this review is for Flat 2 in Park House, if you want a very quiet apartment away from traffic noise book Flat 1, the Garden Apartment also in Park House. Also Flat 4 in Park house is on the first floor so you do not hear the neighbours above.

We stayed here for 31 days so got to know the place, neighbourhood and our host pretty well. Bottom line? This is a terrific little pit-stop for a visit to Winchester and Caroline is all you could ask for in a host. Just be aware that this can be a very noisy apartment: day and night. Details: Firstly, the location is terrific and it's a short walk to almost anywhere in Winchester. Secondly, Caroline is an excellent host. We had a few issues during the stay which Caroline attended to marvellously. One night we were kept awake almost all night by roadworks. Caroline offered us another property during the works. The fridge leaked and Caroline arranged for it to be sorted the same day. We had an issue with the oven not working (turned out to be us not understanding the controls!) and this was sorted within hours. Absolutely terrific! Sadly, our stay was overshadowed somewhat by noise. The flat is right on the corner of a busy junction with traffic lights, so road noise, pedestrian chatter and the general sounds of a busy street make it through the double-glazing. With a window or two open, it's a raw experience and may not suit someone after peace and quiet. The other issue is noise from the apartment above. The property is a house conversion and the noise-proofing is minimal: we heard every footstep, every conversation and - memorably - for a few nights, the loud snoring of the resident above us which required earplugs in order for us to sleep well. Overall, we'd not hesitate to stay at another of Caroline's properties again in the future. Thank you Caroline! :-)

Thank you for your kind words about our service while you were staying with us. We did note your comments about the road and felt a response would be appropriate. We do state on our website that this is a busy city centre location and anyone who comes from a quiet countryside environment may notice the traffic noise. The apartments all have excellent newly installed high quality double glazing to improve the sound insulation, the sitting room of this ground floor apartment and the one above it does face the road, but the bedrooms face onto a quiet side road, when you are in either apartment with the windows closed you can barely hear the road at all. The top floor apartment is quieter as you cannot hear the sound of anyone above it. The Garden Apartment, listed on a separate listing but in the same building is completely quiet as it is facing the courtyard garden and is entirely on the quiet side road. I hope this makes this issue clear to any future guests. All our other 4 properties are in completely quiet locations.

Really great flat which is conveniently located walking distance from the town. Caroline was really helpful in answering all our questions and kindly supplied us with a travel cot for our little one. Thanks again!

This was my first experience with Airbnb and it was a real pleasure to have such a satisfying and exceptional stay to my hometown. Being a former local, I know the best locations in town and this flat ticks all of the boxes; being near to the city centre, the beautiful recreation centre, the cathedral, the bus station and 20 minutes walk from the train station. The flat is extremely well maintained, bright and was ideal for our Christmas stay. Overall, good value for money and we would definitely stay again.

I have lived in Winchester for over 20 years, and have run our B&B and holiday cottages in and around Winchester for most of that time, since our 3 children, now nearly all grown up were very small.
Please ask me for any information about the local area or further afield.
As a family we love to travel - and always prefer to make all the arrangements ourselves.
