À propos de ce logement
Our home backs onto rain forest overlooking the ocean and nearby hills. Located on a hillside on Cape Conway in the Whitsunday area near two beaches and a waterfall that has a great swimming hole. A short drive to Airlie Beach gateway to the reef.
We live in a rural area yet are near Airlie Beach (40 minute drive), the tourist spot and gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. The small town of Proserpine is nearby (20 minute drive) and there is lots to do. Dingo and Hideaway Bay, two very beautiful beaches, are a short drive away. Bowen's beautiful and sheltered beaches are a 40 minute drive north of our place.

I was born and raised in Vancouver Canada, have lived in Auckland NZ, Brisbane Queensland and now enjoy living in the sunny Whitsundays with my Australian partner, Anthony. Before moving down under I travelled in the US and Europe. We are a semi-retired, friendly and relaxed couple.
We have a wonderful hillside 2 hectare property in a rural area on the south coast of Cape Conway, 37 km south of Airlie Beach and 27 km east of the charming small town of Proserpine. It is a 5 acre farm consisting of an organic citrus orchard and rain forest. We enjoy clean, fresh air and wonderful tasting bore water.
Please be aware that despite the criticism stated by Ana about the rain forest cabin's stability it withstood the effects of a Category 4 Cyclone (Debbie in March 2107).
You have a choice - you can bed down in a rustic 2 room airy rain forest cabin which accommodates a maximum of 4 guests. It has no bathroom but has power and water. The light filled and fully screened cabin on the edge of our rain forest is a short walk from our farmhouse or you can stay in one of the bedrooms in our farmhouse which has a view of the sea and nearby mountains. The room in the farmhouse is more suitable for 2 guests but we can accommodate 3. In the rain forest cabin enjoy looking up at the Milky Way from the bed! We can provide cooking facilities in our large farmhouse kitchen. I am a great cook and for a reasonable price I can provide meals as well as a complimentary breakfast of a cheese vegetable frittata made with fresh eggs, freshly baked bread, tea and coffee for breakfast. Please be aware that you would be sharing the spa bathroom in the farmhouse.
We are located near Cedar Creek Falls, a great swimming hole, and Conway and Wilson Beach which are very scenic. Wilson Beach has a swimming enclosure and there are bbq facilities at Conway Beach. Our property is a designated reserve for Rock Wallabies so you may see small kangaroos on our land. We also have sunbirds, cockatoos, kookaburras and lots of different types of butterflies. We are a bit 'green' and are Fauna Rescue volunteers so if you like you can help feed baby possums and wallabies. Great fun for the kids, too! We are very involved in the local community and can help you with arranging bookings on the tourist attractions such as trips to the Great Barrier Reef.
If you are willing to pick up plastic from the islands (nothing messy or dangerous) you can enjoy a great boat trip, swimming, snorkelling and a delicious lunch, all for free. I can try to book you on the eco barge. Trips are dependent on weather conditions. If you go out on this amazing day trip you will meet people from around the world and help the environment. We have a lot to offer and want to make your visit to our very special part of the world memorable and fun.
