Our three spare rooms sleep up to nine (see our two other listings). Guests can enjoy our garden, tennis court, pool table and table tennis. We live six miles from Pickering, 10 from Scarborough, a 200yd walk to a village pub and a mile from a store.
The bedroom is in a separate wing to our own living space. It has an extra-long king size bed and a single bed, plus a small en-suite private bathroom, with shower. In the room there is a ladder up to a mezzanine level where there's one more mattress - this could be used for a fourth person (please ask).
We have two other rooms - another triple (super-king double bed plus sofa-bed) and a twin - which have their own bathroom, but share the same communal spaces. See separate listings.
Two further bedrooms (a large double with sofa-bed and a twin) are also available in the same wing, sharing a different bathroom (with bath and separate shower). Please see our two separate listings.
Accès des voyageurs
As well as the bedroom and bathroom, there are three rooms you can use downstairs in the barn wing (separate from our living space, but sometimes we use these rooms too).
The entrance/breakfast room has a kettle, basic crockery/cutlery, tea, coffee, sugar, milk sachets, a small fridge and a table and chairs.
The big galleried hall has a log fire, sofas and armchairs, a record/CD player with a selection of music, a pool table, a darts board and the nails game.
The mirrored 'gym' has table tennis, a rowing machine and a cross-trainer. It's also home to the accommodation's only television (not the cosiest TV room in the world; to watch comfortably we recommend pushing the table-tennis over a bit, and setting up a deck-chair or two).
You can also use our utility room, where there's a microwave, a sink for washing up and another loo.
There's outdoor furniture you can use, and if we're not on the tennis court, you are welcome to use it.

If we are home we are happy to make you cooked breakfast or provide a self-service Continental breakfast. Price depends what you want: please ask.
Walking, cycling, surfing, body-boarding, paddle-boarding, Go Ape and junk/antique shop-browsing are some of the things we have enjoyed close to home. The North York Moors, Dalby Forest, Whitby, Filey and some great historical sights are within a short drive. We will do our best to point you towards places and activities you'll enjoy, if you need advice.
We have two cats and a spaniel. You are welcome to bring your dog, as long as it stays on the ground floor (it can sleep in the entrance room): no pets in the bedroom please.
Mobile phone reception is fairly weak but it is possible to find a signal, especially outside.
Please clear up after your dog.
Dogs to stay downstairs.
Beware of the pond - please supervise children.
Please leave outdoor shoes downstairs.
Do not use the trampoline or climbing frame.

I moved to North Yorkshire a couple of years ago - this is my husband's home ground and I love living here. There's so much to enjoy - beautiful countryside, great sea for swimming and surfing (with the right wetsuit), lovely architecture, fantastic walking, brilliant pubs, cafes and fish and chips... and that's just within a few miles of home, without even going to Whitby, York, Leeds - also not far away. I love to travel too and did plenty in the pre-settled-down olden days; now I make a 'big' trip every few years to see far-flung relatives and friends. I work as a freelance journalist and my husband in a family business.
