The "Aichbergersche Haus" is famous because it marks the beginning of the inner zone of Hallstatt where it burned down hundreds of years ago. Still the house has to be painted red to always remind us to be careful with fire. Feel "one of us" !

The apartment in Hallstatt is absolutely beautiful. Recently renovated and short walking distance to the best of Hallstatt. We enjoyed our trip very much and Silke's team was accommodating of our late arrival. For folks traveling to Hallstatt for the first time, just note that the bus stop drops you off and then you have about a 7 minute walk (some up hill and stairs) to the apartment. You will need your passport to "check-in" at an adjacent building. Our stay was perfect with one exception, there was no hand soap to be found at the property.
It is impossible not to love Hallstatt and this flat puts you perfectly in middle of it. It's simply amazing. Small FYI, you cannot park here, you have to park outside of the city and either walk (~1.5 km) or take the hotel shuttle which runs hourly. Would have been nice to know.
The apartment was even more wonderful than it appeared in photos. It was truly a great place, nestled right on the most charming street in Hallstatt, and quiet enough from the tourist crowds. It was an incredibly peaceful home base to explore the wonderful town and the incredible mountains surrounding the lake. Silke was kind and her assistants were there to help with any questions. I would highly recommend this apartment for your visit to Hallstatt.
