This bright and spacious apartment, downstairs from the Superhosts of a Portobello Georgian House, is within walking distance to most major tourist sites in Dublin, has been freshly refurbished and features colorful 1840s period fireplaces, comfortable furnishings, and a lovely view of a thriving olive tree.
Our spacious apartment has great privacy as it rests just below street level, but is still bright with big Georgian sash windows that get sunlight streaming in. The front window looks out on a lovely live olive tree and window boxes of flowers. There are wood floors, colorfully painted Georgian period (1840s) fireplaces (ambient but non-working), and all the amenities and modern furnishings (including a European King/American Queen size bed and Queen size sofa bed) to make you feel comfortable and at home while being in the hub of the city center. There is a back door near the kitchen which opens up to an outdoor area where you could seize some sunshine while sipping a cuppa or reading the paper. For your convenience, your hosts stock basic kitchen items like instant coffee, tea, milk, cereal, salt, pepper, sugar, olive oil, cooking oil, and vinegar. When possible & for your pleasure, hosts set out fresh fruit and flowers.
Please note we have some unusual features in this apartment as the space was formerly (for 15 years prior) a yoga, meditation, and dance studio. There are large full length mirrors in both the living room (covered by voile curtains now) and bedroom. The toilet/sink room is next to the kitchen and has an occupancy lock. The bathroom shower (with excellent shower pressure and temperature control) is separate and opens up directly into the inner private hallway. There is a typical glass shower door and then additionally a wooden door for privacy that has towel and clothes hooks so you can un-robe and get wrapped up in the shower without anyone seeing you. However, when sharing the apartment with friends and family, you may want to ask them to stay in one of the other rooms (living room, bedroom, kitchen or garden) without right of passage through that inner hallway while you are showering for ultimate respect for your space and privacy. :)

As your Superhosts live in the Georgian house upstairs, you can feel free to give their door a knock if you need something. If both you and they are free on a Sunday, they may even offer you a plate-full of home-made French crepes (one of the house specialties as you can see in our Georgian House listing).
Please note that as the entire house laundry room is in a small building outside the back door of the apartment, your hosts have right of access between Noon-4pm weekdays, but will notify you before entry in respect to your privacy. If you are staying at least a week, we may need access on a Monday or Wednesday for cleaning and re-freshing of linens.
We encourage guests to take off shoes in the entrance hall to sustain cleanliness within the apartment. Please do not leave wet towels on the furniture or doors; instead use the hooks in the inner hallway next to the shower. When using the kitchen, please clean up all dishes after use. In Ireland, we recycle paper, plastic, tin cans, and glass. Please place all recyclables in a paper bag of your own (or one provided) next to the rubbish bin in the kitchen. Just place glass bottles on the floor next to the bin as they are recycled separately.
The shower has a hot water switch (to the left of the kitchen sink) which must be turned on 30 minutes in advance of your shower. Heat may be used as needed, and the central heating button (also found to the left of the kitchen sink) maintains heat for 2 hours and then automatically switches off for your safety and conservation.
At check-out, place any dirty linens on the floor next to the back door. Note, however, that it is not necessary to strip down the bed of linens. Please leave the place as tidy as you found it (though of course we will do the cleaning) and then simply close the front door tight behind you on departure. Bon Voyage and Thank you!
