This is a difficult review for me to write.
Lola's home is beautiful. The room is spacious, the balcony is a wonderful space, and the location is an easy 25-minute transit to the city. We really enjoyed our time in BCN.
That being said, I was extremely sad that our stay did not match my expectations. There are times that I book "entire homes" because I want privacy. Then there are times, like this one, that I book private rooms with the expectation that I will have a host. Someone who can give recommendations, advice, etc about the local area. That was not the case here.
Lola was highly reviewed. I came to Barcelona for my first time expecting what I read in the reviews. Instead, I found myself on the street corner not knowing which house I was supposed to be going to. After two unanswered messages, I went to the ice cream shop which (thankfully) other reviewers had said belonged to her. Her employee told me how to find her house.
Once inside, I had a brief 3-4 min encounter before Lola left the house, claiming if I needed anything, I could inquire at the store. I didn't realize she wouldn't be there either.
Her employee let me know that she would actually be in Barcelona for the entirety of my stay.
Luckily, her roommate and friend, I assume, both were wonderful girls. They came and went and at least there was someone around sometimes.
In short, I got a stay with Lola's two dogs and the occasional drop-in from a house sitter or roommate. I was bummed. The house itself was lovely. But I genuinely can't say anything about Lola herself.
