Accès des voyageurs
Athough the Casita is attached to the private main residence, guests will enjoy complete privacy in the Casita -- which is fully self-contained with private entrance -- as well as on the patio and in the small yard from which to enjoy expansive mountain views to the east and south/southwest.
The Host(s) will make every effort to be there to greet you when you arrive. However, due to work schedules & varying arrival times, that's not always possible. When Host(s) are not readily available upon arrival, you will have lockbox access and can make yourself at home. Host(s) will check-in with you after work to ensure all is satisfactory and to answer any questions you may have.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We are here for you and available in person or by phone/text throughout your stay. But we respect your privacy and want you to have a quiet oasis to enjoy as you wish.
After retiring, my father traveled from Houston to Taos on vacation in 1991. He was immediately smitten with the desert Southwest, specifically the arid climate, vibrant culture and creative & diverse people of Taos, New Mexico. He returned to Houston only long enough to pack his stuff.
He made Taos his home, established a new way of life for himself (including an authentic life of sobriety & joy) and, a few years later, began building his dream-home on 10 acres high above the waters of the Rio Grand River. Today, the original part of that home is what you are enjoying as Casita de Roberto. Nothing would make him happier than to know your experience here helped you relax, regain your bearings and refocus your life on the things that matter most to you. If that happened to include live music and dancing, he'd be delighted beyond measure to think he had a hand in that.
Now alcohol-free, Dad's favorite 'honky tonks' included the Sagebrush Inn (for a little 'Texas Two-Step' with Jimmy Stadler), the Alley Cantina (for BBQ Shrimp and some loud Rock 'n Roll with the Damn Band), and Thursday Night Live in Taos Plaza (Memorial Day to Labor Day) with Brent Barry, Mina Tank, Katy P & The Business, and others.
He would say: Life is short. So enjoy. Get rid of the things that are holding you back. And persue your dreams...sober...but with unabashed abandonment.

There is a strict No-Pets Policy.

NO OPEN-FLAME CANDLES
of ANY kind allowed inside or outside.
NO ILLEGAL DRUGS --

Casita de Roberto, along with the attached patio and mulched yard, are fully available & private for your comfort & enjoyment. However the main residence is occupied. Therefore, the main house and other outbuildings are restricted areas. Thank you for your understanding.

CLEANING FEES --
Please note that we do NOT currently charge a cleaning fee. We desire to offer you a remarkable vacation experience, complete with fully equipped kitchen & laundry room, for less than you'd pay for a generic hotel room. If it's not your habit at home to remove your shoes at the front door, do not feel obligated. However, please DO thoroughly wipe your shoes upon entering. But, if removing your shoes is a habit you've established in your own home, your doing so here is appreciated as well. It assists us in keeping our cleaning costs down & prevents the need for additional guest fees.
ENERGY USE --
HEAT (**mid-Oct thru late-April Only): The Casita is heated by two propane fireplaces: one in the LR and one in the BR. When the thermostat is turned up, the Casita gets warm quite quickly due to the efficiency of propane heat. Therefore, please do not leave propane fireplaces above 65 in the Casita when you are not there.
A/C (**Summer Only): There is a wonderful crossbreeze in the evening so feel free to open any of the windows that have screens on them. If you open the non-screened windows or leave the door open, you probably will have a house full of flies! :)
A new 8000 BTU window A/C with remote has been installed in the bedroom if you prefer conditioned air to natural air. Please do not leave it running when not at home.
LIGHTS: To save energy, please turn lights OFF when not at the Casita.
NOTE: If planning to return after dark, please feel free to leave on one interior light, as well as the outside motion detector. The switch closest to the front door controls the outdoor motion detector.
DISHES -- Please thoroughly hand-wash all dirty dishes. You may leave the clean dishes in the drainer to dry and we will put them away for you.
WASHER & DRYER -- There is a washer & dryer in the Casita for your convenience, along with laundry detergent and bleach in the cabinet above the dryer. If bleach is used, please be sure and allow the washer to complete the full wash, rinse and spin cycles to insure there is no bleach/bleach residue left in the washer.
These House Rules & other Courtesies, as well as complete Check-out Procedures, are provided in the hardbound folder you will find on the kitchen counter. Please peruse them upon arrival & discuss any concerns or questions you may have with the Host. Thank you.
I am the daughter of one of the most committed Taos transplants this town has ever seen! As a result, I am here as well. He's known around town by many names but is certainly best known as the Marine who loves to dance!
For the thousands of visitors who travel to Taos each year to visit or just passing through, my Dad has often been one of the first they've met upon their arrival. At least that's been the case for most of the past 25 years! So I've learned from him where to point people for a great meal, to take in some history or an art museum, enjoy a vigorous hike or relax to the sounds of some local favorites.
Me? I'm more introverted than Dad and often prefer a good book and gathering with a small group of friends for dinner. However, surprisingly, for a small rural town in northeastern New Mexico, Taos has it all.
I also love to travel and spent 12 months pulling an 18' travel trailer around much of the Southeastern US & then volunteering at Denver's Cherry Creek State Park. So if you want to share some travel stories, I'd love to hear yours. However, I see our job as AirBnB Host(s) as person(s) who provide you with clean (at no extra charge), comfortable, affordable accommodations, provide the information necessary for you to get the most out of your trip, and then leave you alone to enjoy it all for as long as you wish to stay.
I do hope you'll stay with us. It would be our pleasure to have you as guests at Casita de Roberto.
