WE updated these on November 1,. (2016) We hope the changes were saved.
We want our Guest to be aware that our House & property are smoker-free zones. We don't have any wild parties & not a lot of noise. Peaceful, quiet place with older trees. The kitchen closes at 10:30 p.m. If you want a cup or two of tea, you can help yourself to any of our Guest teas in Kitchen cabinet above our toaster oven. We have herbal & green tea available.
We also have a small coffee maker. If you want coffee anytime, help self to water cooler - purified water that we go to get bi-weekly. Brew up a decent cup or two of our fresh ground Moon Doggie coffee as you like. Just be careful to shut off the coffeemaker & please unplug the cord from the outlet. In warmer Seasons, WE recycle the used coffee grounds to our garden to help the topsoil & the new veggie seedlings that will go in on May 15th. Thank you.
Absolutely NO eating of store-bought foods/ ordered-out delivery food, or any other foods in the upstairs Guest Bedroom. Please have Breakfast foods, snacks, to eat in our larger Dining Room anytime. Sometimes we may have visiting family member over for a dinner too. You may use our kitchen cabinet glasses & plates, soup bowls, utensils and whatever. Please rinse them well when finished & put in our automatic dishwasher. (We run it when its full.)

Be careful to check that the kitchen Stove is turned off completely before you leave the premises or at Night during bedtime hours for the rest of the family. Be careful if you do any light cooking. Please be sure not to leave any used pots & pans in our sink. Just clean gently & leave in drain board. We'll put away in cabinets.

Please Turn off all lights before you leave the house to go to dinner, out to your Medial Rotation Shift, shopping, or for any other area travel.

No smoking/ microwaves/ pets/ noise on inside / outside dwelling.

Breakfast: As you like. Tell us what to have for you in way of cereals, waffles, gluten-free bagels, cream cheeses, organic jams, & muffins.
Nice to eat with your freshly made coffee. O.K. to bring a beverage upstairs to our Guest Room, but be very careful not to leave coffee rings/stains on our antique furniture - our resin table is O.K. We can wash the tea/coffee mug/cup stains right off the resin-topped study table.

Thanks for being careful of our things.

TV is usually shut off at 11:00 p.m. if anyone wanted to watch something - In May '16, we now have an HBO connection on the TV if you care to watch a show or earlier before 11:00 p.m. when we unplug the wi-fi.
Wi- fi on during daytime till 11:00 p.m/ or earlier if Guest not using it/ sleeping - to renew our Iodine -(Thyroid) supply.
Watch Thyroid Health. It's important ! )

Clean out shower double drains before & after using.
(Gloves & cleaning tools provided in blue Guest shared Bathroom.)
***Please direct the flow of the shower water away from the tile grout verticals on the walls as they wear down the tile grouts & a flood could happen into the ceiling of Living Room down under it. ( We just had the tile grouts renewed about 4 - mos. ago in 2016. But we don't want a repeat of anything like that.

Recycle after rinsing any/all types of (R) Plastics, metal cans, soda cans, glass bottles, etc., to large bright blue recycling can outside or on porch. Collected by our town on Friday 6 a.m. (Son puts cans out on Thursday eves.)
Strict policy of Recycling. Rinse in sink if you have to BEFORE you put plastics of all shapes/ sizes/ colors into the big blue Recycling can. (Your assistance with this is appreciated by Mother Earth too.)

Ask about anything else. Wi-fi password provided once you arrive in Guest Room Folder.
This is a health-conscious, natural place. We take off shoes when we come in & wear house slippers, etc. Thank you .

This hosue was really good. The bed room was more spacious and there was privacy at all times and the host E Frances &a her son Alex are really friendly and helpful. You can have complete access to the kitchen and the living room. It's a pick for people who choose to stay in silence and in peacefulness.

It was great to have Pradeep as our Christmas-New Year 2017 Guest! He is the best, most considerate and intelligent person. Now that he has gone back to his country, we miss him. It was like having an old friend here we felt. Amazingly good company during the Holidays by the Big Apple & Statue of Liberty! WE hope he stays in touch with us from time-to-time. All positive!

I stayed in the cozy intern room for a full month and found it to be extremely comfortable and exactly as described. I was there during an unusually hot summer, but the 2 fans going in the room made it comfortable. I really enjoyed being about a 10-15 minute walk to Bergen Town Center (Wholefoods, Target, Starbucks, Restaurants, Shopping etc..) which is also where a "Spanish Bus" into NYC would leave from. I preferred these buses to the NJ Transit buses as they would quickly drive you to the George Washington Bridge subway stop in Manhattan vs the longer buses (165, 168) that take you to Port Authority. E. Frances was really sweet and accommodating. She and her son live in the home as well, but I felt I had complete privacy. She provided sheets and towels, which is really all I needed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a private room and semi-private bath. This place might not be ideal for someone looking to make full use of a kitchen, but this is reflected in the affordable price. All in all - great value for the price!

There is always coffee and snacks available whenever you need a break ( courtesy of the host). The bathroom is always clean and the room has a private door the gives you access directly to the bathroom. The host is very dedicate person that tries everything on her ability to make you very comfortable. I will definitely return to the room.

My hostess was the most welcoming person, and it made my stay so very special. The room was very cozy and extremely clean. So was the bathroom. Sparkling. She reminded me of an era gone by. Very old-world charming home, with plants, and art and wallpaper... she was attentive to little details, and made me feel right at home. Never had a problem with the internet or the heat. She is a wonderful lady, and if I ever have to stay nearabouts Hackensack, I would go stay with her. It's a quiet household, and simple rules. If you like loud music, or company, or if you like contemporary/ chic decor, probably you would be happy elsewhere. This is a homey warm place where you can enjoy a bit of rest and quiet. Curbside parking, quiet residential neighborhood, Target and other stores within a mile or so, and a lovely hostess who will make you feel at home in hers. Thank you Frances.

Thank you for my great review, Somdatta. Yes, we are getting the little coffee-maker this week. And the best coffee from the Moon Doggie, Maywood, Winner of the NJ Coffee Roasters Award year after year. (I was just in their shop this afternoon in fact.) I know of a guy who sells hi-end coffee machines. I'm going to see about ordering one he makes on line from Italy where they are manufactured. We hope he has the right size that will go in the cozy kitchen. And I looked at a Convection Oven that would fit on my counter top this past week as well. A Convection Oven is a lot safer than microwave (that we got rid of ) This oven will heat the water or food up fast w/o ruining the nutritional value of the food/or causing it to become carcinogenic especially in the case of meats as you know. We've done the research.. We know a Convection Oven will be a good addition to our kitchen so that if the Guests want to use it & are in a hurry to go to their Internship /Rotation, they can do it speedily & still get there on time. Thanks for the suggestions. We're on them now ! Be well! Enjoy the Holidays! And treat yourself to something fun! It was a pleasure having you. Warmly, E Frances P.S. Happy Days to your little Princess!
