Our Cottage is a fully-remodeled Carriage House with modern plumbing, electrical and high end finishings. We designed the space in an "urban renewal" style. It has stained concrete flooring and custom carriage doors. There is natural light large windows and a vaulted skylight. The Cottage is an "ADU" (Accessory Dwelling Unit) on the back of our property, similar to a Tiny House, but much larger! The ADU has a fully equipped kitchen with full size appliances, fridge and sink. Please Note: The Cottage is in the Backyard of our property, and the Main House is rented to our neighbors. Please be friendly and respectful of their young family- two young boys and a golden retriever- who may occasionally be outside playing in the backyard during your stay. If this is not ok with you, please do not book our listing.

We live a few streets away from The Cottage, so odds are we won't cross paths during your stay unless you need help with anything or would like to meet in person. Dan is always available by phone or email to answer any questions. We also have an informative binder in the Cottage with our recommendations for local restaurants, breweries, kid-friendly spots, and things to get out and do.
The ADU is located in South Tabor which directly adjoins Mt. Tabor and Richmond (Also known as Clinton/Division). South Tabor is a low-key residential neighborhood with nice streets to walk along and a great park up the street. Richmond (to the West) is the city's hottest restaurant district with Pok Pok (1.9 miles away), Ava Gene's, Bollywood Theater, and Roman Candle all very close by. Hawthorne (1.5 miles) is Portland's 'Telegraph Avenue' or 'Haight-Ashbury,' and is the heart of Portland's counter-culture. You will find more good places to eat, vintage shops, cafes and Powell;s Books on Hawthorne. Foster-Powell (to the South) has a few good cheap places to eat and a fair amount of debauchery after hours. Woodstock, which is further South, is next to Reed College which has a beautiful campus.
We have fantastic public transportation in Portland and our Cottage is located on multiple bus lines. The 9 will take you down Powell Blvd to Downtown (across the river). The 14 takes you to Division and then to Hawthorne and then takes you Downtown (across the river). Both of these buses stop within a few blocks. Uber or Lyft can also get you to the heart of Hawthorne or Division within 5 minutes.
Powell Blvd is our closest cross street which is a 4-lane road that connects Mt. Hood with the Coast and is a major commuter thoroughfare thru the city. In front of our house it can be a little noisy and feel busy, but once in the Cottage in the backyard it's a very calm and peaceful. The benefit of being right of Powell is we are 15 minutes from the Airport, 10 minutes by car to Downtown Portland, and just 5 minutes to Southeast's best neighborhoods: Hawthorne, Division (Richmond), Woodstock and Mt. Tabor. As mentioned elsewhere, please note that our neighbors (a family with two young boys and a golden retriever) rent the Main House on the property and you may see them as you come and go. Please be friendly and conscientious. Children may also be playing in the backyard at times during your stay.
Please note that we ask our Guests observe "Quiet Hours" when coming and going outside at night. Our neighbors live in the Main House on the Property and they have young children who go to sleep early. The Cottage is fully stand-alone and private on the back of the property, and you are welcome to be as loud as you'd like once inside, but please be courteous when walking up and down the driveway so as not to disturb others.
