Join us for croquet on the lawn; relax in the flower gardens or curl up by the open fireplace in the 1860's Sea Captain's house large ocean view living room stocked with books and parlor games.

There is a country kitchen in our 1820's farmhouse accessible to all guests where light meals can be prepared. To accommodate guests with Vegan, Vegetarian and Kosher diets all meat, fish and dairy products are to be prepared outside on the deck where we have a large barbecue and burner set up.

The property is also home to the Oceanside Meadows Institute for the Arts and Sciences situated across the garden in a beautiful 1820's timber framed hall, home to a full sized Steinway D Piano and a wonderful series of concerts and lectures held throughout the summer season that our guests love to attend.

Oceanside Meadows marries all that you would expect from an historic inn that has been open since 1820 with an unparalleled opportunity to explore and to understand Maine’s environment and natural splendor.

Very cute old farmhouse. Love that these old houses have been preserved and are continuing to be used. The room was pretty small. I don't see how it could hold an air mattress as suggested, but it was fine for two people. The host and staff were very nice. The beach across the street is pretty smelly (sulfur) when you get close to the water and tons of mosquitos at dusk. But at night it has an amazing view of the milky way! Very close to the park entrance and good seafood restaurants. Overall a fine place to stay if you're looking to spend the day at Schoodic.

My wife, Sonja and I, both with science backgrounds, have owned Acadia's Oceanside Meadows Inn since 1984. Since it has been been operating as an inn since 1820 we merely consider ourselves the present stewards of this wonderful place. We have over the years acquired 200+ acres of land and a large part of the ocean front around the inn that we have made into a preserve offering miles of trails. Additionally we have been instrumental in securing the future of a further 1300 pristine acres of now preserved land contiguous to ours that our guests can also enjoy.

Having established the Acadia's Oceanside Meadows Institute for the Arts and Sciences in 1998 we were honoured to receive the Maine Visionary Award from the Gulf of Maine Council, presented by the State Governor now Independent Senator Angus King. Following our love of the arts we hold frequent events in our 1820's timber framed hall that is home to a magnificent full sized concert grand Steinway Model D Piano that is played by remarkable pianists from around the world who are joined by other world renowned musicians. Mixing in our love of science and history we invite authors from the world over to speak in a lecture series held throughout the Maine summer attended by our guests and community who all love to meet. We feel enriched by the majesty of our magnificent piece of the Maine coast, the wonderful musicians, scientists, artists, folks of all disciplines that have presented and the wonderful guests that have visited us in the over thirty years we have had the pleasure of being here, soaking up the salty air and sound of the surf.

We are blessed with two children, 14 and 8 years old die hard environmentalists living in tune and actively striving for the health of our beautiful planet. When they are not hiking the trails on the property or exploring Acadia National Park at Schoodic five minutes away , they are often to be found helping in our extensive organic veggie patches and perennial flower gardens. They particularly relish foraging for a complete meal from the land and cooking it up in very short order to celebrate its just picked magnificent flavour. Following their parents passion for cooking they often assist in creating the organic and as far as possible gourmet breakfasts served to our guests each morning. Being big fans of the chilled mango and lime soup, rhubarb and strawberry coffee cake, waffles with gingered pears, wild organic blueberries and Maine maple syrup they can often be seen sneaking in and around the dining rooms posing as guests in the hope of scrum-ping their favorite breakfast.

We are joined by super dedicated staff who share our passion for Maine's natural splendour and help us with all aspects of hosting our inn, personally welcoming everyone of our guests and making them feel completely at home. Many of our crew have been with us for several years including our magnificent organic gardener putting up with us since 1984! Although our private home on property is located away from the inn buildings we generally have the pleasure of meeting all of our guests and definitely all who choose to attend the concerts and lectures series and guest receptions held in the hall at every event.

All of us at Acadia's Oceanside Meadows Inn hope we will have the opportunity of welcoming you to our inn and magnificent part of the coast of Maine.
