Benedicte couldn't have been more delightful, as were all her family who we met on arrival. We were offered a welcome drink and shown the lovely little apartment. Benedicte was very attentive to our needs, extremely knowledgeable about Rouen, its sites and its history; she was a great pleasure to talk to.

Set in a very picturesque and beautiful courtyard, Benedicte's kindness helped make us feel very welcome in her home for our short stay in Rouen. The apartment was conveniently located within walking distance of many lovely restaurants and nearby attractions. Thank you Benedicte for being such a wonderful and friendly host.

We stayed two nights at Benedicte's B&B. We loved the seclusion of the rooms, the little sitting area, the roominess of the bedroom and bath, and the extreme quiet. The breakfast room is charming, and the breakfasts were delicious. The pictures in the listing are accurate. Benedicte was very welcoming and kind, and helped us along with our very poor French. She also gave us good advice for touring Rouen. (The B&B is situated almost in the backyard of the Musee des Beaux Arts.) Although it's only a short walk to the Vieux Marche and other sights in the central city, on a return trip I might opt to stay somewhere more central. If I had been traveling alone, I might have been a bit nervous about walking on the street at night in that general area. I had no reason to believe it was unsafe, but it was darker and less busy.

Padrona di casa gentile ed ospitale. Casa dall'aspetto romantico e con atmosfera d'altri tempi. Prima colazione molto curata. L'unico appunto: appare necessaria qualche manutenzione in più.

We were very warmly welcomed by Benedicte. A locally made apple juice was chilled waiting for us and we were made to feel at home. Finding the accommodation was a bit tricky (as our sat nav kept failing and there were lots of one-way streets) but we eventually found it and it was really worth it. The location is very central, within walking distance of a very beautiful city. Benedicte gave us lots of tips on what to see and do and they were spot on. The breakfast was excellent - freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit and cheese, yogurts and beautiful french breads. There was plenty and we were asked several times if we wanted more of anything. Omelettes were also offered but we were happy with the continental already on the table. The table was laid with such care and was very inviting. The accommodation itself was a beautiful, old, restored home which was spotless and tastefully decorated. Benedicte obviously enjoys meeting people and over breakfast she was happy to chat. Equally, we felt our privacy was respected. We would definitely come again to this home and would strongly recommend it to others visiting Rouen. You won't be disappointed.

The hosts of this B&B went out of their way to make sure we discovered the highlights of Rouen, which is a very interesting city with beautiful historic sites, art museums, and monuments that should not be missed on a tour of Normandy. They live in an 18th Century fine home they have completely renovated and furnished in authentic style. The small apartment where we stayed has a sitting room that's perfect for reading, the bedroom has a king sized very comfortable bed, and the bathroom is furnished with upscale fixtures and tile. The apartment has its own private entrance and is located in the heart of the old city, only steps away from all the important sites, but wonderfully quiet at night for sleeping. Benedicte serves a lovely breakfast complete with homemade jams and pastries, fresh squeezed juice, fruit, and cheese--you will not go hungry! Her husband Philippe is a retired barrister and professor of law whose interests include history and art--he is a tremendous resource for anyone who wants to learn more about Rouen, Normandy, or France. These two defy all stereotypes of French people--they are warm, generous, and passionately devoted to welcoming guests. Both speak English fluently. Over the years we have stayed in many different B&Bs. This one is by far our favorite so far, and I hope our travels will permit us to return one day.
