Description

Our 2 bed/2 bath Carlton North home is an architecturally designed conversion to a traditional terrace house. Created by CPPD architects it has been featured in Green Magazine and was a Dulux Colour Finalist. Comes with 2 bicycles and a tram stop!

Keeley Lane is in the beating heart of Carlton North, one of our favourite Melbourne spots. Everything is walkable, bikeable, tram-able and enjoyable! From the delis, bistros and cafes in beautiful Rathdowne Village, the famous “Little Italy” food and wine strip in Carlton, vibrant East Brunswick where locally crafted beer flows like water through the pubs and bars – we have something here for everyone! And if you need a little exercise after all that amazing food, sprawling Princes Park with its lawn bowls, tennis courts, playgrounds and good olde weekend AFL is merely meters away. You could not get more Melbourne!

Less than 3km from the city, Keeley Lane is ideal for romantic getaways, foodie adventurers, visiting professionals, and urban explorers.

From our door you are:
• 2 minutes via tram, or 15 on foot to “Little Italy" in Carlton
• 8 minutes on foot to the iconic Rathdowne Village, a shopping and eating mecca
• 2 minutes via tram, or 10 on foot to East Brunswick and the "new" Lygon strip
• 3 minutes on foot to the 95 acres of Princes Park
• 2km – 3km to Melbourne University, RMIT and the Hospital Precinct
…and only 30 meters to the best coffee and brekkie roll in the north, and a bloody mary if required!

The architecture of Keeley Lane is bold, dramatic and arresting. The interior is cozy, deliberate, affecting. The garden is north facing and completely private, allowing you to enjoy the afternoon sun under the lemon, persimmon and nectarine trees. Lounge with a book, or fire up the barbecue for a dinner under the stars.

We have a Miele equipped kitchen with coffee machine, cookware, and all the appliances you need to make amazing meals. Set amongst fabulous artisan suppliers you will be fifty meters from Enoteca Sileno - an Italian food and wine treasure chest, or a short walk to The Rathdowne Village Delicatessen. If you do run out of pots and pans and cutlery, just pop them in the dishwasher and start again.

Master Bedroom - Luxury queen size bed with non allergenic bedding, heating, large windows, BIR with hangers and shelves, corner nook to store suitcases and private ensuite. Through the large doors is a private rooftop terrace with views to the city, the perfect spot for a glass of wine and sneaky cheese board as the sun sets!

Second Bedroom - Luxury queen size bed with non allergenic bedding, heating, natural light, heritage ceiling and fireplace detail, cupboard with hangers and private ensuite.

The laundry has washer and dryer available for guest use (all bed linen and towels are professionally laundered). Wifi is complimentary, as well as a thought out selection of novels, CD's, and DVD's.

This booking is for the whole house - you will have exclusive use of the entire property. Please note if a couple is booked, the second bedroom will be locked.

We will greet you at check in and provide a quick tour of the property and some advice on where to explore in Melbourne and Carlton. There is also a Keeley Lane guide book full of ideas and recommendations - but never hesitate to ask for more!

Carlton North is quintessential Melbourne – artisan deli's, wood fired pizza with secret family recipes, rustic bakers, locally produced gin, craft beer brewers and outrageously good coffee. We simply don't tolerate the substandard or the ordinary.

Within the immediate area we have cafes with a weekend line up like Naughty Boy and North Carlton Canteen. Enoteca Sileno, an Italian wine and food emporium is across the road – they'll also serve coffee if you're feeling overwhelmed. Plus a smattering of bottle shops and quaint corner stores for milk and morning papers means you never have to stray far from home.

To the east is the beautiful Rathdowne Village where you can have a french breakfast at Depot De Pain, grab a burger and shake at The Local Burger Co, or some traditional Italian at The Olive Jar (you might even be serenaded by the owner!) You can shop for organic produce at the Delicatessen or Clay to eat in much loved Curtain Square, then have a massage at Endota and buy some jewellery at The Ark. Why not finish with some tapas at Piqueos and a nightcap at Gerards? You'll still feel like you've barely scratched the surface.

To the north is the energetic and diverse East Brunswick. Serious about coffee? I bet they're more serious at The Brunswick East Project. Like middle eastern food? Rumi will redefine exactly what that is. After some mid century furniture? Mid Century Scandinavia has you covered. Have a thing for George Calombaris and/or modern greek food? No worries, Hellenic Republic will feed you. Like your bakery with a Lebanese twist? Yey for Mankoushé! Feeling like Japanese? Kumo Izakaya & Sake Bar is the den for you. And after all of that you still have The Alderman, Atticus Finch and The Alehouse Project for a nightcap.

Head south and we wander into Little Italy – the place where Melbourne's café culture was born 100 years ago. Cries of “bella" ring out in the streets where pasta and pizza and coffee are king! If you are a serious foodie, you already know about Town Mouse so I won't go into it. If you love traditional pizza, get thee to DOC Pizza. If baked goods are your thing (and award winning shop fits out) Bake D. Chirico may break the budget – but it will be worth it. Plus you have iconic book store Readings, the Cinema Nova, all the enotecas and delicatessens a Little Italy deserves with all the fashion shopping you can handle. Cap it off with a coffee at Brunetti and your day is done.

And of course to the west is beautiful Princes Park, Royal Park, Melbourne Zoo and every kind of sporting activity you can imagine. Something has to balance out all that eating!

Keeley Lane comes with a parking permit to allow for onstreet parking.

The 117 tram stop is thirty metres from our door. Myki cards are provided with $5 credit (we request all guests top them back to $5 at the end of their stay). Two trams travel this line:
• The number 8 tram travels into Carlton, along Swanston St, through the heart of the city, past the NGV and Botanic Gardens and down Toorak Rd into South Yarra, Chapel St and Toorak shops. In the other direction, the tram takes you into East Brunswick and a fabulous explosion of youth, energy and multiculturalism and onwards to Moreland Station.
• The number 1 tram begins in East Coburg and travels down Nicholson St, down Lygon St through Brunswick East where some seriously good restaurants live, over to Swanston St where it stops at Melbourne University and RMIT, past the iconic strip of Bourke St Mall, past Flinders St station and the arts precinct, onto Stuart St and Malthouse Theatre and the Melbourne Recital Centre, through to South Melbourne's beautiful Clarendon St shopping precinct before finally stopping at South Melbourne beach.

We also provide two bicycles and helmets so guests can use bike lanes and paths through out the area and greater Melbourne - the Capital City Trail is the perfect place to start.

If you like getting around on two feet, the Princes Park running track is your local exercise haunt. You can also walk through the park to Melbourne University, Melbourne Zoo and the Hospitals.

Smoking permitted outside only, please ensure doors are shut.

Règlement intérieur
L'entrée dans les lieux se fait après 15:00

We both come from artistic and creative backgrounds, I've worked in visual display propping, visual merchandising and fashion in my career. My husband builds and designs bars and venues with an eye for colour, lighting and design.
We now have two properties on Airbnb (and a third in the pipeline!) and all meet our specific criteria: the must be unique; they must be in food and bar destinations; they must have an explosion of art and design; they must have a soul.
We own our properties, we put our heart and soul into each of them to ensure our guests have an experience that is of the standard and quality we would like. Like you, we use airbnb when we travel – how much better to live somewhere, than merely visit. How much more amazing to experience a place when you can purchase the food at the farmer’s market and cook an amazing meal, when you have a rooftop deck to enjoy a cheese board and a glass of wine, to not have to rush out the door in the morning to make the breakfast buffet!
Food, wine and art are our passions, each property comes with a very detailed guidebook recommending the best of the local haunts, and each is located in any area that has so much to offer.
Hosting has become a new passion of mine, one that I am sure you will feel when you stay in any of our properties.
