If its beach or mountain you are looking for, this is the perfect place to stay to enjoy both swimming in the sea or hiking in the montains. This beautifully renovated stone house has all the mods and cons you can think of in the mids of nature.

Located in a spectacular protected area of great natural value, this villa can make your holidays whatever you want them to be: a break from it all in the midst of stunning natural scenery; a summer visit to some of Spain’s best beaches, far from the usual tourist circuit; or the perfect excuse to bring the whole family or your best friends together around the table, with excellent food and the comfort and warmth of a brightly-burning log fire. Why not combine them all?

The property is a traditional 18th century Asturian quintana: a group of buildings comprising the main house and several ancillary constructions, in this case set in three hectares of grounds. The buildings have all been totally renovated. The property lies in the municipality of La Pereda, in the coastal district of Llanes in Asturias, surrounded by forests and mountains. The area is a unique landscape of great natural beauty, at the foot of the Cuera mountain range and just 5 km from the coast. The perfect hideaway for a rural break in both summer and winter. The house will cater to your every comfort, and the views from all the rooms will simply take your breath away.

This spacious villa has all the regal stateliness of Asturian traditional period houses, with natural stone facade and walls – keeping the house cool in summer and insulating it from the elements in the winter –; red clay tiles on the sloping roofs; solid wooden beams and windows... and all the comforts of an expertly renovated and designed modern home.

The owners have made every effort to preserve the rustic nature of the original house. The atmosphere is natural, warm, peaceful and comfortable, yet undeniably modern, with a charming shabby chic effect where style and antiques, a hipster essence and family memories give the whole a rural, romantic air. Sense and sensibility indeed!

The house can comfortably accommodate 8 guests, and there are various options for more.

The ground floor features a spacious living room which forms the heart of the property and opens onto a beautiful outside terrace. A magnificent viewpoint from which to look out onto the impressive mountainous surroundings through large glass windows which let streams of light in. Picture long evenings with family or friends here, the Asturian countryside as impressive backdrop... It is equipped with comfortable sofas and chairs set around a coffee table. One of the sofas converts to a double bed, thus providing a further improvised 2-person bedroom.

The open plan kitchen is truly unique. Decorated in rustic style, it has a large work area and generous dining table. The old food cupboards, crockery and kitchenware, cutlery and plates – all of them family heirlooms – provide the charming vintage air so typical of English cottages... but with a Spanish twist. And fear not, all electrical equipment and appliances are modern and of the highest standards, the delight of any cook: an extra large induction hob with 5 heat zones, a large oven, two large capacity fridges, microwave oven, dishwasher. All appliances are SMEG 50s style, the perfect complement to the traditional décor.

The kitchen opens onto the living room and is connected to an outside patio area, surrounded by a low stone wall and equipped with wrought iron furniture, providing a second dining room for al fresco meals.

The ground floor also has an office with a chimney, a work area and a leather sofa which converts to a single bed, plus a guest bathroom.

The upper floor is the sleeping area, with three double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and stunning views. Charming rooms with sloping, attic ceilings, and large windows to let in the light and the views all the way up to the sea. The walls have wood panelling and wall-paper, the definitive country-chic look.

All bedrooms have a double bed, cupboards and chest of drawers for clothes storage, a work table and chairs.

The property has a further surprise: an original panera dating from the 18th century, refurbished as a small house in its own right. A panera is a traditional rural building, typical in Asturias and Galicia in particular, which was originally used as a grain store. The owners have transformed this into a second home which can comfortably house three people in a living space of more than 50 m2. It is equipped with a double bed and two benches; these can be used to improvise a children’s bedroom. There is also a simple bathroom for any guests staying in this veritable Asturian “tree house”.

A small hut in the garden houses a washing machine and dryer, and two comfortable bunk beds. There is a semi-open shower, ideal for using on returning from the beach.

And no need to worry if travelling with children: the owners have thoughtfully provided two cots and two highchairs. There is also an outside play area with swings, a doll’s house, etc.

La Pereda, in the Asturian concejo or district of Llanes, lies between the mountains and the coast, in this area of rural Asturias where the mountains almost seem to spill into the sea. An area of outstanding natural beauty, everything is possible here: walking in woods and forests; climbing in the Picos de Europa, which are literally on your doorstep; or visiting some of the most stunning beaches of the Cantabrian coast. The small coastal town of Llanes is very close by, easy and convenient for shopping, savouring the local cuisine and admiring local crafts. And there is easy access too to other must-see places, such as Colombres, Ribadesella, Cangas de Onís, Covadonga and beyond.

Local festivities, with the traditional romerías or pilgrimages which are enjoyed in the summer months, are the perfect occasion for taking in local traditions.

We created the agency as we wish to do something different: take peoples charming homes and transform them into rentals, keeping the magic and charm the owners created when they built their home but at the same time making it comfortable and adequate for our clients such as giving them plenty of empty cupboard space, ensuring the only food in the fridge is the one of our welcome hamper and making sure everything is working correctly and is sparkling clean so that when you arrive, the property will feel like instant home to you too. There are no two properties alike, nor are there two guest exactly alike but we do trust we will have the right home for you.
