Enjoy the tranquility and comfort of this elegantly renovated 200-year-old farmhouse. Relax around the pool in our secluded garden. Work out in the gym. Walk along the magnificent Ta' Cenc Cliffs to Mgarr-Ix-Xini to the east or Xlendi to the west. Take in the view from the terrace over open fields & watch the sunset with a cool drink in hand.
The Razzett id-Dawl (Farmhouse of Light) is the perfect place for a group of four to relax, reflect, refresh and re-energise. It’s a peaceful and secluded setting near the top of Ta’ Cenc and backs onto the open fields leading to the stunning Ta’ Cenc Cliffs, midway between Mgarr-Ix-Xini and Xlendi on the south cost of Gozo.
Tranquility at the Top is a beautiful, light and bright bedroom with queen-size bed and an en suite bathroom right at the top of the house (on the third floor) with a private staircase leading up to it. It overlooks the upstairs terrace, garden, pool and fields stretching out to the cliffs to the south of the house. Step out on to the roof terrace and you can see half of Gozo: the Citadel in Victoria ahead, and the sea to the north at Marsalforn and to the west at Xlendi. Over a dozen village churches dot the middle distance and horizon.
On the second floor – one floor down – is the second Tranquility bedroom, which is an airy, high-ceiling room with king-size bed and two separate shower-room/toilets. Both bedrooms have easy access to the upstairs terrace, garden, pool and fields stretching out to the cliffs to the south of the house.
On the second floor is a large study/library with Internet-connected PC for quiet reading, writing or study, as well as a well-stocked library. Also on the second floor level you find the breakfast room, with ‘fridge, cold drinks, teas and expresso machine. We’ll set your breakfast for you each day by 0830, and you can choose when and where to have it, in the breakfast room, on the terrace or down in the garden area.
The outdoors is really special: on the second floor you find a large Italian-tiled terrace set out with bougainvillea and a big, round wooden table, bench seats and a swing. The terrace looks down over the pool and garden, to which you have direct access via an external spiral staircase.
The pool is set in the middle of the sunken garden, surrounded by 3 metre high rubble walls and completely sheltered by tall trees, so it’s not overlooked. It is large (13 by 6 meters) and very deep at one end - good for doing lengths or just floating with a ‘woggle’. Non-slip tiled decking provides ample space for the sun beds and pool furniture – and for laying out some of our exercise mats for your Yoga or Pilates, as you wish. At the far end of the pool is a raised pagoda with a big round stone table and cane seating, sheltered by vines and perfect for a cool picnic on a hot summer’s day.
Alongside the house is the poolroom/gym with toilet and shower, as well as some exercise equipment – all of which you can freely use. There’s a ‘fridge and cooker there – all very convenient for preparing a lunchtime picnic around the pool and your cold drinks throughout the day. Also available for guest use is our Texas-built charcoal burning BBQ, which is superb for grilling steaks, shrimp and tuna.
You are spoilt for choice of places to eat your meals: in the breakfast room, around the pool, under the vines in the pagoda, or on the upstairs terrace – there’s even another round stone table and bench 50 metres away at the far end of the horse paddock (sadly we have no horses right now).
Please look at the Photos to help complete your impression of this lovely home, your room and the grounds.
Accès des voyageurs
Your destination - the Razzett id-Dawl (Farmhouse of Light) - is tucked away down an unmarked, peaceful and very private ‘sqaq’ (alley); you can’t see the front door from the street or hear any traffic when you are here. Once you enter the Razzett you will find a sumptuous and open house and grounds.
One of your Tranquility bedrooms is at the top of the house and the other is on the second floor. How they fit within the overall layout of the Razzett is described fully in “The Space” section - and the Photos help to show this too.
There is a clear separation of guest space from that of the owner’s private areas and you can easily come and go – in the front door, straight up two flights of stairs to the first bedroom; and then up further private stairs to the second bedroom located right at the top of the Razzett. From both bedrooms you have easy access the guest areas on the second floor: study/library, breakfast room and terrace; and then down again to the garden, pool, poolroom/gym and out through the paddock and back gate to cliffs - all as you please and in comfort, without entering any of the owner’s private space.
Guests have access anytime to the garden, pool, deck, pagoda, poolroom-gym and large paddock - so please enjoy them! However please note that the only access from your bedrooms, breakfast room and the upper terrace to the pool/garden area is down a spiral staircase that is not suitable for anyone with ambulatory difficulties.
If all you need is one bedroom, then please take a look at our other listings for ‘Tranquility at Ta’ Cenc No. 1’ and ‘Tranquility at Ta’ Cenc No. 2’. When both are taken, you and your fellow guests will be sharing the common areas – study/library, breakfast room, terrace, garden, pool, poolroom/gym and paddock areas.
As the Photos show and you will find, there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy comfortable accommodation, relaxation and (when wanted) recreation.

The Razzett id-Dawl – Farmhouse of Light - is my home, so usually I’m here to greet you on arrival, and to show you around the house and grounds. Once you are settled, we can talk through other details: places to go, things to do, and arranging leisure activities. I have brochures, maps and phone numbers to help you get your bearings and start to enjoy your vacation from Day 1 (see also the section on “Other Things to Note”). At your request I am happy to share my knowledge of - and happy relationship - with Gozo and Malta.
When I’m not available, Zabetta - our housekeeper for almost 20 years - stands in for me. She comes at around 0800 every day (except for Sundays) with a fresh loaf of wonderful local bread, hot from the baker’s wood-fired oven in Xewkija - the best bread in Gozo.
Zabetta is typically here for an hour or so, tidying the house, doing the washing, etc. She can do your laundry and ironing – and tidy your room – if you wish. Otherwise she will focus on her other duties.
Breakfast will be set out each morning by 0830, which typically includes fresh local bread, fruit, olives and cheese, cereals – together with fruit juices, tea or coffee from the expresso machine. You can take your breakfast at any time from then in the breakfast room, out on the terrace or down in garden area.
Any time that I’m away, Zabetta and her husband Joe (a qualified plumber and invaluable handyman) are typically available to come round within 20 minutes to sort out any issue with the house or facilities.
Gozo is a place of wild beauty with its yellow stone cliffs surrounded by the clear, blue Mediterranean Sea. It offers remarkable archaeological, architectural and historical sites. Available throughout the year are numerous cultural events: concert seasons – opera, baroque music, jazz – and art exhibitions. Also you shouldn’t miss one of the picturesque village festas with their marching brass bands and firework displays, which take place almost every weekend between May and September.
For the more active, you can enjoy walking and rock climbing; swimming, kayaking, boating, jet-skiing and yachts for hire. You can also go exploring the island on guided walking, climbing or Segway tours. Gozo is famed for its excellent diving, with clear waters and many interesting dive locations for the more experienced, including caves and wrecks. There are also over a dozen certified Dive Schools, and Free-diving instruction is available.
If you are looking for a more relaxed time, Gozo offers expert cooking classes; Yoga, Pilates, Reflexology, Aquaflow/Watsu, Physiotherapy and various other massage therapies; as well as a well-attended meditation centre. We have arrangements for some of these qualified practitioners to visit the Razzett, given sufficient notice and their schedule availability. Please let us know in advance if you want to schedule some sessions, and I will send you more details.
In the evening you have a choice of myriad small – and many good – restaurants and bars, as well as half-a-dozen places for live music.
At your request, I’m always pleased to offer direction and information regarding activities and places of interest. See also the official Malta Tourism Authority website covering with Malta and Gozo: (URL HIDDEN)

The accommodation at the Razzett id-Dawl has been inspected and licensed by the Malta Tourist Authority.
After 35 years of running my Management Consultancy business in the Americas and Europe, I’m looking to slow down and enjoy more of the good life here in Gozo. While I’m new to AirBNB, we have had many guests – Family, Friends and Business colleagues - staying with us over the 21 years since we returned here from 16 years in Houston, Texas.
I’m British, but was born and spent my early days in Malta (my Father was a career officer in the British Royal Navy). I’ve also lived in England, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland and the USA – but Gozo is where my heart is and it’s now my home.
In my late 60’s and widowed (sadly I lost my Wife 3 years ago), I keep fit and active with walking & swimming; wakeboarding (I have my own ski-boat) and sailing (other people’s boats); Pilates and some Yoga. I love the sea – and Gozo is the just the place to enjoy it, as you can see from the Photos.
My other interests include reading, music, good food, wine and conversation with my Friends, and perhaps some tequila on hot summer’s evenings. There is a lot of fascinating history and sights to experience in both Gozo and Malta; I have great interest in the history of Malta and have an extensive library containing many books on the Knights of Malta and the Great Siege of 1565.
It is now for you to find what you love about Gozo and Malta.
