Description

This unique hostel experience is located on Meares Island just a 15 min boat ride from the beautiful and renowned town of Tofino. Lone Cone hostel is nestled at the foot hill of Lone Cone mountain and perched on a gorgeous, private white sand beach.

The hostel includes separate men’s and women’s dorms, as well as private rooms with twin, double, or bunk beds that can sleep up to 4 or 5 people. The hostel features a large kitchen and living area to encourage our guests to gather to break bread or swap stories while staying warm and dry. Relaxing under the stars or warming up after a dip in the lake the resort now features a hot tub which over looks great views of the water front.

A 33 foot water taxi, Ahous Hakoom (the Ahousaht Queen) transports guests from the reception centre at The Shore, in Tofino to the Lone Cone Hostel and Campground on Meares Island. The short 15 minute boat ride takes you among some of the most stunning coastline in the world. Keep your eyes peeled for whales, sea otters, and other beautiful flora and fauna unique to the area. Enjoy the spectacular scenery and wildlife that has put Tofino on the map.

There is an on site operations manager who would be happy to answer any questions you may have and to offer recommendations for things to do and places to see.

Lone Cone Hostel on Meares Island has been one of the homes of the Ahousaht Tribe for thousands of years, and some would say since the beginning of time. The fishing village at Lone Cone Beach or Maatsquiaht as the Ahousaht referred to it as was the site of well over a few thousand Nuu-chan-nulth people right up until the mid 1800s. The nearby creeks and stream provided fresh water, returning runs of chum and coho salmon were alway abundant and the forest on Meares Island provided incredible old growth cedar for lodges, canoes, house poles and cedar bark for baskets, clothing, fishing line and many daily living requirements. The sense of place is felt the moment you set upon the shores of Lone Cone Hostel and this foundation of strength and connection only increases upon every return visit and associated adventure.

The hostel is accessed by water taxi from downtown Tofino and within major bus routes from Victoria and Vancouver on "Tofino Bus".

There is a large bathhouse that features additional hot showers and flush toilets. As well, coin operated laundry facilities are available for guests to use. We understand in this day and age that being able to connect to friends, family and/or work is a necessity so we offer complimentary Wi-Fi and a computer room for guests to use. Also for your convenience, there is an on-site general store featuring necessities and confectionary items.
