A charming bungalow in the middle of one of Portland's most vibrant neighborhoods. Steps to great restaurants, shops and cafes. The house has plenty of natural light and positive spaces to plan your Portland adventures!
My home is craftsman bungalow with a bright and cheerful atmosphere. The neighborhood (Richmond) was listed as one of the best places to live in the west by Sunset Magazine and it shows. Within less than 5 minutes on foot you can dine at Portland's best restaurants and cafes. I love living here and look forward to sharing the space with you.
The house balances the charm of old architecture with tasteful upgrades, including a well-equipped kitchen and insulation to keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter. Friends and guests have described the house as mellow, relaxing and positive. The living room and dining room have an open floor plan, which contributes to the feeling of light and space.
I am offering one of the two bedrooms (my room will remain empty during your stay). The room includes a comfortable queen size bed and private outdoor deck. The bed frame and mattress were purchased from Oregon's most successful local mattress business which prioritizes sustainability and high quality materials (Oeko-Tek and Certi Pur US certified).
For your comfort the room includes a complete closet and bureau, adjustable bedside reading lights, full length mirror, sitting area, and access to an iron and ironing board. The adjoining private deck overlooks the back garden and has a table and chairs for two. It's a lovely refuge and perfect for unwinding in the evening or enjoying a morning cup of coffee.
Wifi is accessible throughout the house.
I love gardening and grow vegetables as well as ornamental plants. There is seating on the front porch for taking in the plant life as well as bicycles passing by (I live on a bike route).
Accès des voyageurs
Guests have access to the entire house with the exception of my room (which will be empty) and the office (which is mostly boring work stuff - not the most fun for travelers!).

I am very happy to communicate before and during your stay to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
I'll be out of town when this listing is available, so I unfortunately won't be able to greet guests in person, but will make arrangements for easy check-in and will be very reachable by phone and email. My work sometimes takes me abroad, but I make sure to stay connected to Airbnb messaging while I travel so you're comfortable and have what you need! I hire professionals to clean and prepare the house between guests, so everything will be in top form when you arrive.
I don't have a TV, so I suggest bringing your laptop to watch your favorite programs. :)
My 100-year old craftsman bungalow has the charm and quirks of an old home. Some doors and floor boards creak, but that's also what I love about them. :)
Finally, I appreciate when potential guests complete as much of their profile as possible and include some information in their reservation requests - even a sentence or two about the reason for your visit, travel companions and desired experience is very helpful!
I imagine that most Airbnb guests are respectful and observe common courtesies. I ask that noise be limited after 10 pm.
I appreciate when guests remove their shoes - especially on rainy days! Wet shoes and wood floors aren't the best of friends. :)

Thank you for considering a stay at my home! I love Portland and my neighborhood and look forward to sharing both with travelers. I work in the natural resource management field and was drawn to the area for its proximity to beautiful places as well as its vibrant communities. I am happy to share information with guests about many options for great food, art, music, outdoor experiences and relaxation in and near Portland.
I love travel and have been fortunate to live, work and study in the U.S., Africa and South Asia. I also travel for work throughout the Pacific Northwest and am happy to share ideas for weekend getaways as well as nearby adventures. I look forward to hearing your travel stories.
I understand that guests have a variety of needs depending on their reason for travel. I would like to make your visit as positive as possible and can share information from a resident's perspective or a vacationer's perspective. I also understand the need for a refuge at the end of a busy day and will give guests as much space as they'd like.
I look forward to interacting with Airbnb guests! Please be in touch with questions or requests to customize your visit.
